    the man in the glass

when you get wot you want in your struggle for self
and the world makes you king for a day.
just go to a mirror and look at yourself
and see what THAT man has to say

for it isent your father or mother or wife
who the judgement upon you must pass
the fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
is the one staring back from the glass

some people may think youre a straight-shootin, chum
and call you a wounderful guy
but the man in the glass says youre only a bum
if you cant look him straight in the eye
hes the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
for hes with you right up to the end
and youve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
if the man in the glass is your friend

you may fool the whole world down the pathway of life
and get pats on your back as you pass
but your final reward will be heartaches and tears
if youve cheated the man in the glass.

    xx

Excellent ac, I'll be on that thanks button tonight. I can't at work :(
  • Thanks AC and Traf,
Given me a lot to think about today, I'm gonna try and do something about this :)
Just funny to think that if things had worked out different, chances are I'd be completely sober now, and would stay that way :-/

Think I went a little over the top with the thanks button, but I meant it - the posts today have really helped :)

Not all are, I'll give you a suggestion though :)

Write down all your problems, and I don't mean post them. Then work through them one-by-one, when you break them down it stops them piling up on you ;)

I know what they all are, I just can't seem to stop how they affect me :-/
Me thinks I'm going to have to turn in to a full-time lesbian, would be easier hehe.
Nah, I know I shouldn't let other peoples actions/words hurt me, but can't help it.
Any excuse to reach for the bottle eh! :rotfl:

Until you understand exactly why you reach for the bottle, nothing much will help :o I know why I do, and I do it occasionally now, but you have to come to terms with why
