Jacky-f wrote:Well I got my letter today and the box for the number of shares allocated is blank. Does that mean I'm not getting any shares? I tried calling the helpline but the system is down so they can't tell me anything.
They have given me a voting slip though!0 -
i have had my endowment with profits policy since 1986 and its currently at around £10,500.any ideas on how many shares i will get and what this mean in actual money, cos i don't understand all the financial terms used on here!!"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Got home and had 2 letters from SL; one for me and one for OH.
Moment of panic as I I had to choose whether to go to the loo or open the letters first. In the end, settled for a multi-tasking type of exercise.
The letters were annual statements showing just how much the surrender values had fallen over the past 12 months.
Perhaps they're saving the biggest ones to the end.

I'm assuming it's a 25 year endowment.
When you eventually get your prospectus, multiply your number of shares by £2.65 for a guesstimate of their possible value.

I've got my fingers crossed for you on D Day.

So now we know why GG can't locate his past statements:rotfl:

I would guess candygirl might reasonalbly expect around £1608 = 607 shares, based on a variable windfall of 19% of your premiums paid, assuming she started in June 1986, plus a £490 basic windfall.
Please let us know how this compares with reality.0 -
Hi
When I recieved my share entitlement I went to the Standard life website where there is a section where you enter your amount of allocated shares and tthey give you a top and bottom estimate of your shares value, based upon ther estimated share range. Pretty basic, I have tried to go into the members area but unfortunately at the moment it appears to be faulty. Possibly the Board are now running the site
The link I used was Standard life proposal Hope it comes back up. My own two policies were started in 1984 for around £32000 and the allocation was 1135 shares
I took out the original policy for £27k then took a further one within the year, I wish now my wife had been first named on the other policy as she recieved the paperwork today where she is shown as a member but not policy holder as she was not the first named. oh well, soon be glad when the sorry mess is ended and I can pay up the mortgage and get out before it sinks? but my luck is it will then turn into a swan from a lame duck :rolleyes:0 -

Is that assuming 1% (of premiums paid) for each full year that the policy has been in force + basic shares? if so, I'd be looking at 1084 shares and 678 for OH. That would almost cover my losses in surrender value over the past 4 years.
Has the formula that SL has used been worked out yet?

we got our letter this week too and have 326 shares allocated.
we have a 25 year with profits endowment started in 1994 and we pay £47.88 a month
i think that gives us about £863?0
