I'm in line for 208 shares, the tight sods.
Going to vote yes as I'd rather have £590 now, rahter than next to nothing next time round. I'm annoyed even more they did not go plc years ago when there was big money floating about.
Lost all faith in SL, as soon as I get my shares I moving my stakeholder pension elsewhere and my endowment savings plan has a 2 years still to run, which is near worthless as the bonus has be less than a round of drinks for the last few years.
The standard life demutalisation is poor compared to the Halifax, B&B, Abbey National, Norwich Union in years gone by.0 -
Well I got my letter today and the box for the number of shares allocated is blank. Does that mean I'm not getting any shares? I tried calling the helpline but the system is down so they can't tell me anything.
They have given me a voting slip though!0 -
EdInvestor wrote:On smaller policies of 10 ish and 20 ish years' duration and including the basic 500, the variation seems to be in the 12-15% of policy value range, the longer the higher .
Only the variable number of shares allocated is based on policy value, age, duration etc. as at 30 March 2004 - the fixed allocation of 185 shares is common to all.
Would it not then be more accurate to base any % of the policy value at that date on just the variable amount ?
On that basis mine works out at 9.5% of policy value at 30 March 2004 based on a mid price of £2.65.
Adding in the 185 shares works out at only just over 11%.0 -
Still haven't got my pack....I know patience is a virtueBaby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

But just as important is
When started?
Those endowments starting at the end of 1987, for instance, look to have done pretty well.0 -

Indeed, and not only "When started" but also duration and type of policy.
I wish they'd supplied tables a la Scottish Widows.0 -
One suspects there will also be significant variations for single premiums vis a vis regular contributions for policies starting at the same time.Trying to keep it simple...0

At the Investors' Association we've had a first sighting of a
WP Bond windfall
Opened April 2001 (no withdrawals or additions of capital) - variable rate = 2.57% of initial investment + the basic rate windfall.
Any more examples of these would be appreciated.0
