  • I've been following this thread with some interest, so here's my contribution to the data:-
695 shares based on a 25yr endowment started in March 1986 with monthly payments of 28.30 (and for the record, I'm male!)

Given that there will be a massive shortfall in the final payout (in 5 years, eek!), I'm keen to maximise my benefit from this windfall, so I'll most likely hang on to the shares to get the 5% bonus (and might even buy more if they are offered at a discount). Would it be possible to put these shares in the shares component of an ISA?

If so, and since SL are obviously very keen to encourage members to hold onto their shares, does anyone know if SL have any plans to offer a preferential ISA account for such purposes?

    Endowment taken out in 1983.

Variable share allocation = 22.5 % (at £2.65/share) of gross* premiums paid to March 2004.

    * Subject, of course, to LAPR ;)

How does this fit in overall ?

Why is everyone talking about how many shares they are going to get we haven't even voted yet?

Can I find out how many I will getting anywhere?

Started an endowment in Oct 1989 for 25 years at £33.67 per month as a single woman... I would rather not have a massive predicted shorfall too rather than shares but still would like a rough idea.

Anyone know how much I'd be likely to get?
    Thanx

  • Hi Luke,

I'm guessing that you will get a total windfall of about £1,850 based on a variable windfall of 20% of contributions paid to March 2004 + a basic windfall of £490.

Oh I hope my voting papers havent gone astray... the last I heard was in the members update march 2006 and it says voting papers would be sent out end of April... still not recieved anything.

What if my papers got lost on the post and I missed voting would I lose my shares?
    Thanx

Calm down dear, it's only a windfall.

There are 2.5 million members packs, so in the interests of postman Pat they're being sent out over a period of days.

How much will you get. Less than me cos my premiums larger and the policy has been running longer.

How much will I get? Dunno my stuff hasn't arrived yet but have a surname beginning with W, you get used to being last in the queue starting from schooldays.

But you won't lose any entitlement if your pack gets lost in the post and you don't vote.

Am a little dissapointed i have to say. 25 year endowment taken out in 1996 premiums of £61 a month, and a miserly 232 shares. Was hoping for a bit more to be fair. Thankfully i have only ever used my endowment as a savings vehicle and never used it as a mortgage.
