........although well-supported and posted on the relevant board, there was no response from MSE.0 -
I definitely think a sub forum is needed as the health board is being cluttered up. Must say I wouldnt use the same words but I'm with Bounder on this one as I for one do not really worry about other peoples clothes. even when I see a woman wearing something really nice I know it probably wouldnt fit or suit me as well. You just have to buy what makes you look good. The main worry for us women seems to be making sure we dont turn up at a function wearing the same as someone else.

Just a quick note, want to say thanks to KatP and floss2 for defending me. Do we think absolutebounder is male??
Good idea though gottochange about having a separate board
I think he is (quite happy to be corrected ab....) and is reknowned for being outspoken and forthright.
Nevertheless, he like others, has the right of free speech where and when ever. Having said that though, he can't have read your thread in full, he just happens to have a (typically although not exclusively) male take on the subject and fairly strong feelings about money and debt.
Hopefully, things have improved a little for you now and you've certainly had loads and loads of good advice but with the best will in the world, you know that you had considered credit but couldn't get it so a bullet has been dodged but you were quite willing to put yourself in the firing line.
The pressure to look good is huge these days, I sympathise hun. Best to develop your very own sense of style that does not follow fashion but still looks great or, failing that, become a country bumpkin like me.

I'm sure that Martin and his team have/will look into boards being added and changed - however this is a very slow process as you'll probably know if you have followed the creation of some of the previous boards/sub-boards - the trial sub-board on DFW for diaries forexample had been discussed for a very long time before it was even introduced as a trial board

It's always hard to determine what's right and wrong but it may be that what is decided is that a name change is what is needed rather than a new board... Not saying that is the case but that could certainly be one solution
As we recently had a lot of changes (including name changes for boards) then I would have thought that MSE towers will wait and see what happens before considering any more suggestions... but that's only because it's what I'd do if I were them
At the end of the day - fashion and beauty are often overlapping - weightloss it could be argued belongs in the arms unless it's a specific money saving question, but then where do you end the "it's not MSE - move it to the Arms!"?
Never an easy balance
Do keep making suggestions to the team though, just please don't be too upset if they can't answer you or at least answer straight away - they are a very busy bunch of people after all

Thank you for your comments, wisdom and advice Mrs Tine.
I think it's the librarian/filing clerk in me that wants to group all like categories of threads together; however, it seems there is some agreement about their numbers and the dominance of the Health & Beauty sub-board/forum. I am not saying they shouldn't exist - just controlled (....me, control freak? nah) a little better. I don't like having to look so hard for a thread that until recently was always on page one and I think the reason for it not being on page one is two-fold.0 -
Wisdom? Moi???

I do try to keep up with the beauty board but I find I have little to offer when it comes to advice so I just try to keep an eye out of obvious things that ought to be elsewhere (like DFW etc)... other than that I tend to be happy to let you lot get on with it
The thing about forums is that they can mutate over time depending on who frequents them - and I'm a creature of habit myself - I used to spend a lot more time in DFW dealing with newbies - but I got so irritated with the 50,000 clubs in the end that I stopped trying to trawl through them to get to the people who really needed the help and answers... I'm not saying there is a right or wrong btw, just that I understand your point of view
And the "clubs" are still on DFW - but there IS a new Diary board... so maybe it will be easier to find newbies questions? Who knows

Who give atoss what a bunch of silly self centered bints are wearing?
The answer would be the people who post on the thread and offer advice (often in a money saving way) to others who are interested. If you are not interested don't read it, you obviously have a communication problem as you have to resort to being rude to people and using offensive language to put your point across, unfortunately this rather invalidates any comments you have to make.
As a regular poster on the fashion threads I agree that a sub board would be the best idea, I don't believe the thread is less popular sometimes other priorities take precedence and it is now the school holidays so that would probably explain the absence of regular posters.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I have also felt a little uncomfortable about the amount of fashion threads on the H&B board. Now I'm totally prepared to admit that this is partly about me, the 'what are we wearing today' threads would get pretty boring with me (the same as day before yesterday, they've been washed and dried
). And I'm not personally sure that it's worth a new thread every day. Also the use of the word fashionista makes me feel quite inadequate although I do totally take the point it's tongue in cheek
I'm not sure about a subforum but I did wonder if a lot of those threads could be rounded up into one mega thread and if there's really a need for a new one quite so often. I think this could probably be self policed to a large degree so no need to bother the excellent BGs.
But I am prepared to admit that this is my own personal opinion though
and of course the board can't just be about what makes me comfortable. 0 -
I'd be happy with a what are we wearing today mega thread..... and perhaps a not of explanation at the begining that the idea is MS and encouraging best use of resources etc.
I do think the idea in the linked thread about splitting the Health and Beauty board in two and having a Health & Fitness board and a Fashion & Beauty board is the best solution though, the current remit is a bit wide.0 -

Gosh we'll start blushing! :rotfl:
If you really feel that another board is in order then present it to MSE towers - but not as "get these off the x board" but present a case for why a new board with it's own identity (and specify what MSE case there is for it) is needed. If you can give them a "THIS exact board is what we need, this is why and this is why we feel it needs to be seperate etc" then it's far more likely to be acted on (although obviously not guaranteed!)
