Setting up a paypal account they sent me a emil of a topic - said i am having problems paying, then said i need to add credit card details to my account, but they already know i don't have a credit card and the email has spelling mistakes in it, i forwarded it to paypal spoof and got no reply yet - is it coz its in Luxembourge that they get the spelling wrong there? Or do you reckon it is a scam try?
I will copy the mail if you want to see it.

Its a scam. You did right to forward it to paypal. There are lots of these scam e-bay and paypal e-mails going around, so you need to be very alert.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

I thought so, i haven't been on eBay for quite a while the last scams were Nigerian "i have paid you the cash - send me my goods" scams, possibly a new one then. Cheers.
Them scammers make me laugh sometimes. Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
I have had quite a few in the past few weeks and have forwarded them all onto paypal. not that its doing any good as someone is trying to hack into it daily now0

I got caught out by one once. I got an e-mail saying my account was suspended and I needed to log in to undo it. Rather stupidly I clicked on the link and logged in and it asked me to confirm my bank detials. At this point I realised it was a scam and looked at the web address to find it wasn't paypal. I logged in properly and changed my password and its been fine since. But I am always very careful but it just shows how you can be caught out very easily if you just do things without thinking.0

Never log into your account via links. If you sell stuff always check you have received the payments directly through paypal account. Never beleive emails.0

i just received this from 'paypal', is clearly not from paypal, loads of spelling mistakes, cant click on the links on their page apart the signing in. do u think if i replied to them they would get it? have also forwarded it on to paypal abuse.

if they sent you an email and it wasn't a reply to email you sent them i would say its a scam, but if they are replying to a specfic email you sent them you can expect spelling mistakes, i just got a reply to email i sent them and its full of mistakes but i know it genuine due to the nature of the email.
Any email from paypal that asks for you account details then ask to click a link to login into your paypal generally are fake, if unsure login to you paypal by going directly to the website through IE and not through a link in an email and check in thereEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
If Paypal send you an email, they would always include your name and the last 4 digits of your account, to prove it is actually them. If it reads something like 'Dear Paypal Customer', or does not contain your full name or username it is definitely a scam.
If you use Internet Explorer, hover over the link: the ACTUAL web address it is sending you to will show at the bottom of your screen, just above the 'Start' button.
Paypal would never email you to verify any account or card details, nor would they send you messages from disgruntled customers.Profit=sanity

Thanks for all the replies, however, this email has no links or quoted any numbers, but it does have my name in the email. When they have quoted me as M that is what they have quoted me, just 1 letter and this mail does not make sense, sent from webform@paypal.co.uk
What do you think? Still no reply from spoof at paypal or eBay on this yet. And i don't remember contacting them, just remember my account would not get linked.
