If anyone is really scared of bank notes, places like Maplin (and Ebay) sell UV note checkers.

Take the money - if you are worried about accepting a largish amount, take the money to the bank and pay it in over the counter before handing over the goods. That way you will if the notes are kosher or not. A genuine buyer shouldn't have a problem with this.

Well the sun might be out where they are and they have run out to play, or their parents have took them on holiday. ;)
Although I've gt to admit that the first thing I sold was a old ambulance and I insisted on paypal. :o I can't for the life of me think why, but ebay convinced me it was "safe" :rotfl:

I agree with Soolin - get a fraud detection pen and an old fashioned receipt book. If you both sign the receipt book - you have the carbon copy - then you both have proof that the item was collected and paid for. I have no problem accepting cash for an item and have sold something for £500 previously.

You don't need a receipt book, buyer pays cash and you hand the goods over. End of transaction.
Obviously if you are a registered trader you may need some sort of proof for your accountant, but I just use my ebay selling pages for that .
