A regular visitors to zoo's we made our first visit to this one and have to say a very refreshing approach and good value for money. We paid the price for 2 adults and 1 toddler (free entry) using their 15% online discount.
On arrival we were advised of their passport scheme which for a small additional fee allows you to go for free we paid £49 total (discounted price tickets plus passport for a years free entry) which included the cost of the lovely colourful booklet so you could discount that for further value for two adults allowing us to go as a family for free for the next year. The passport scheme also allows you to queue jump using the 'passport holders entry' doors.
Unlike other zoos we have been to where the cost for a years passport has been a significant additional cost in addition to entry already paid and only worth the money if you are visiting regularly this zoos passport scheme is excellent value for money even if you only visit one additional time.
My favorite part beside the safari experience rides to see some of the animals is the fact that families with toddlers are clearly catered for as a mum this is so important, the zoo provides a free buggy use which you can pick up at various points and drop off as you see fit at different points around the zoo. They also provide a free landrover collection that will take you back to the entrance from any part of the safari so when your toddler gets tired you can make a swift return without either a hike or a ride back. Made a huge difference to us as we had limited space in the car for a buggy and avoided every parents nightmare of a screaming tired toddler.
Food can be expensive but you can take a picnic to reduce the costs.
Attractions include the now internet and media famous gorilla 'Ambam' who walks like a man. A range of different species on the endangered list many of whom have babies in tow at this time of year that the zoo is assisting to breed and reintroduce into the wild as part of conservation efforts.
Although you might not see everything up close and in person personally I found the whole experience a very refreshing change to the follow the dots and look through the window type of zoos and with the passport scheme giving us free entry will be making full use of it to see other parts of the park and the extensive house and gardens that we weren't able to see first time around.
Port Lympne and the sister zoo Howletts are in Kent so easy access from Brighton, london and surrounding area's. If you like a sunday drive like we do then you really can't beat seeing the Kent countryside rather than being stuck on the motorway.
Well worth the visit! And a bargain to boot! Don't forget 15% online discount when ordering tickets.0 -

Does anyone know if quoting the SUN still gets you a discount at one of the Alton Towers hotels? And if so, do you need to have anything with you to "prove" it.
Planning to phone tomorrow morning and ask anyway.0 -
I wanted to take my grandon to an adventure park - The best deal for sure is the Gullivers Kingdom.
