Human waste coming through kitchen sink landlord still wants rent money

Human waste comes out of your bottom.
You deal with that okay. (I hope)
Bleach and disinfectant is NOT expensive and you should be using it anyway.
Problem solved!0 -

Im sorry if i have not made myself clear.
My issue is that for 2-3 months the landlord did not address the problem, was slow in his responses.
i ask you that if every morning when you had a shower, !!!! started coming thru the kitchen sink, and the LL continued not to solve the problem, would you not be slighly angry and resitant to pay him full rent.
and by the way we have contiually used bleach and other cleaning products, but that does not stop bad plumbing and blocked drains!0 -

It's tough to hear but there is basically nothing you can do now. Yes it was unacceptably late, but there are legal remedies to that you chose not to take a I've outlined. Unfortunately no-one actually tells you the rules of renting and most people have no idea save a vague concept they want to withold rent. I would estimate maybe only a fifth of people have any clue. I didn't until I was screwed over by a landlord, but when I discovered various renting forums and educated myself. Next time you will not have to wait before taking matters into your own hands0

Not loaded. I am fully aware of the problems in other countries, I find your attitude and approach very rude.
I was merely asking for help, not patronising responses.0 -

Well personally as a tenant I'd not look to pay less rent for a fairly small problem like that (but perhaps I've been too forgiving as a tenant in the years I rented) but I'd have kept receipts for the extra cleaning products and asked him to cough up for those if you had to do a thorough bleaching on a daily basis.
But I do think you're being a little dramatic with the whole 'human waste' issue - it was shower water bubbling up in your sink from what you say, so not really quite the same as a toilet over-flowing into it. Obviously people do wash their 'areas' in a shower but I'd have thought the sheer level of dilution involved would mean that a simple bleach cleaning would do the trick.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Why are you SO angry now, when it has been fixed? You seem to have missed the boat. I suspect you're angry at yourself and now it's been sorted still want to be angry :mad::mad:
What do you expect from a "deep clean" - they can't get deep into the metal that the sink is made from - bleach will do the trick easily - it's not really an industrial job.
How do you think parents deal with terry nappies from little babies bums that are full of poo-poo?
You seem to be wanting to vent and not listening to the replies.0 -
I am puzzled how this situation can possibly occur.
Not only must waste outlet from toilets be completely separate than sink outlets, but this sort of situation must also defy gravity! I'd have thought you need to create a vacuum to generate poo in your kitchen sink, particularly in such volume that the sink overflowed!
I know there can be dodgy plumbing, but that usually involves kitchen waste ending up in rainwater drains. Toilet drains are completely separate. If this was a problem, surely it would have always existed and been indentified immediately.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards.
