Tesco Clubcard Points Bonus Discussion

According to the very helpful person I spoke to at Tesco Clubcard, it's as follows:
Tesco Clubcard Plus
Tesco groceries etc - 2 points per £1 (while the double points offer lasts) plus a further 1 point per £1 for using the Clubcard+ = 3 points per £1 altogether.
Tesco petrol (new rate) - 1 point per £1 plus a further 1 point per £1 for using the Clubcard+ = 2 points per £1 altogether
Tesco Platinum Visa
Tesco groceries etc - 2 points per £1 (while the double points offer lasts) plus a further half point per £1 for using the Visa card = 2.5 points per £1 altogether.
Tesco petrol (new rate) - 2 points per £1 plus a further half point per £1 for using the Visa card = 2.5 points per £1 altogether
So it seems that it's better to use the Clubcard+ card in the shop, but the Tesco Platinum Visa card for your petrol.
Except that it isn't even that simple, because Tesco Visa cards vary in points awarded according to when they were issued. Mine's an old card and as above - others may give a lower rate.
Is that clear? Of course it isn't - Tesco really need to sort this mess out and show the various rates on the website, but they don't want to do that because the current confusion probably leads to people thinking they're getting more points than they actually are. Much as with the Tesco bank accounts - anyone know for sure what they're actually getting on an account that's been open for more than a year?0 -

I never realised they offered half points. Wonder what I can exchange my odd half point for ?!
I believe I am getting the princely sum of 3% gross on my internet savings account until January. Nearer the time, if they don't write to me, I will enquire and see what their new rate is, and if necessary 'vote with my feet' ! The main advantage of their internet account is that you can transfer money to your bank account instantly (Faster Payments).Thank you for reading this message.0 -

They don't give half points. Sorry - I put that badly. My half point means one point for ever £2.
Like you, I like the Tesco accounts, but it's impossible to find out online what rate you're getting. You shouldn't need to phone to get basic information like that.0 -

I think she got it wrong.
I used my CC+ card to pay for petrol and got 1 point for every £2 spend.
So spend £20 on fuel on CC+ and you get 10 cc points + 20 TPF points = 30 points, whereas before it was 40.
I get the same points if I use my old style Tesco Platinum CC which gives me 1 point for every £2 spent. So on £20 fuel: 20 cc points + 10 TPF points = 30 points.
Think I'll use my credit card from now on cos then I can pay at the pump and not have to stand in the long queue - thats providing the receipts on the pump are working!!0 -

I think you're right. Here's what should be the definitive answer:
Before 1 November 2010
Instore- 1 point per £1 from Tesco Bank and
- 2 points per £1 from Clubcard
Fuel- 1 point per £1 from Tesco Bank and
- 1 point per £1 from Clubcard
After 1 November 2010
Instore - no change
Fuel- 1 point per £1 from Tesco Bank and
- 1 point per £2 from Clubcard

Clear as mud, isn't it?0 -
I have used my Tesco Credit Card - which I understand entitles me to points - but does anyone know when I can expect to receive the points? Is it once a year?0

They come quarterly in the same way as your clubcard points. It has a seperate section on the statement for Tesco Personal Finance - this is the points from using your credit card.

I have just had a letter telling me they are upgrading my Tesco visa account to a new Tesco World Mastercard. I'm not sure what I'm getting points wise on my current card but I've had it since 2006 so it may be 1 point per £1 spent. I think they may be using it as an excuse to cut down on my points, as the Mastercard is 1 point per £2. I also understand these cards charge more to the retailer than the old ones. Anyone know more about it?0
