No- I have not yet contacted either bank.
The TT was sent and duplicated on 05th June.
The 'extra' payment was sat in my Solicitors until 22nd June when it was 'returned' to my account.0 -

(The "depends on who it is" comment that is.)0 -
Well, so far we have most of the details anyway, pmsl. £40k wire transfer duplicated.
The bank name is really irrelevant but I thought it might be nice.
What I would say I would do on an anonymous forum and what I would do in reality are two different things. If in reality I spent the money then I am committing an crime and can be prosecuted for spending money that I knowingly am aware is not mine.
Hypothetically, I would spend the money on wine, women and song0 -

In your experience as a Natwest employee and in all seriousness, what exactly are "Bank B" likely to have been doing for the last 7 weeks in order to try and get their £40k back?
From the comments made by the branch staff at "Bank B" the week after the transaction, (see original post) they had realised immediately their error and were aware they had cocked up the TT almost straight away.
They also know that it was our account and TT that was related to the descrepancy.
So WHY 7 weeks later has no effort (apparently) been made to reclaim the funds??????????0 -

Ex employee now and I never worked in CHAPS department but in the branch network. There should be a discrepancy somewhere and I have no idea the process of tracing the error so I have no idea but I would contact bank A.0 -
