I hope PP put their money where their mouth is. Keep us posted!

Do you know why he would have bothered switching machines? Surely not just for a stick of RAM? Are the rest of the specs different?
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

He swapped the PCs as his is covered in scratches and older than mine although the same model it seems. He could of just taken the RAM but he got greedy and swapped the entire PC which made it much easier to prove using the photos on ebay i put up of it. Its also bent in shape, like he sat on it maybe, so i guess the screen will die soon too.

As for the comment on a good old fashioned beating - that was my husbands tactic and he even set off in the car.... however I got straight on the case with paypal and the police and phoned him up on route to explain that my way was far better and the scammer wasnt worth it. He turned around and came home.

I will keep you posted as soon as PayPal confirm the refund! :j

A bit early to be celebrating, but good luck.

Well even if i dont get the promised refund via paypal, my sister is a small claims solicitor and has offered to sort it for me. So this young man may well be in for a nasty surprise letter if it doesnt go to plan. ;)

    UPDATE:
TODAY I finally recieved my refund!!
PayPal told me it would be so simple, they lied!
6 weeks of filing Police reports, taking photos, getting statements, faxing them, posting them and uploading them, then having the appeal declined 3 times on stupid reasons later............ i finally had to send the laptop this idiot returned to me over to the USA PayPal unit for investigation!! At a cost of £30 to me I add!!

However, finally this conning ebay loser has had my money taken off him and its back in my account.

What did he loose though in trying to rip me off? Nothing! He still has my laptop he bought, he had my money for 6 weeks gaining interest too.......... no punishment nothing.

What do we all have to loose in doing the same thing? At best we get a laptop and a refund and at worst we pay for the laptop and keep it!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!!

There is no justice, however for now I am just trying to look on the bright side that I can now afford to buy a pram for my baby who is due in 11 weeks. :-) and that we won the fight in the end. If anyone is ever in a similar situation and would like any help or advice please feel free to PM me, its been one heck of a learning experience.

Well done you, i can't believe anyone would have the nerve to do anything like that.

I tend to sell laptops and tvs etc, that kind of stuff on gumtree now or local paper, that way they can inspect the goods when they come to pay for it and if they don't like it etc, no skin off my nose.

I tried selling a laptop on ebay, didn't get the reserve i wanted. Then sold it on gumtree for £50 over the reserve i had on ebay anyway, saved the hassle of posting it as obviously the buyer came to me and then that was it, sale completed, none of this paypal business with buyers ripping you off.

A pity that sellers cannot now leave a suitable feedback to warn others about the attempted theft.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
