What about Pinewood Park in Farnborough?
Also, slightly away from that area, we're considering Bisley near Woking too.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Aldershot is squaddie town, Camberley has RMA Sandhurst so you get a better class of officer sqauddie. Old Dean estate is a bit rough (well it used to be).
Bisley is nice Surry village - and handy if you like target shooting!
Frimley is good, has some of the best schools in the area.
I used to live in Buelie Gardens. Not too bad, houses have small gardens though. And I could never spell my address.
Prices seems fairly camparable between Frimley / Camberley / Farnborough / Frimley Green / Mytchett / Blackwater / Crowthorne.
Whats the most important thing for you? Transport / Schools / Nightlife?0 -
Camberley has a lovely Tapas restaurant, well worth the visit. The only good thing I found about Aldershot was its close proximity to BasingstokeTrying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)Loan from Friend = £20000

It does? What resturant is it? (Having just moved back to the area, I'm a little out of touch - all my old pubs have closed for a start ::mad: )0 -
Pinewood park is ok, I'd rather not live there though as its full of teenagers and there are far too many cars. The areas around it are nice though. Bisley is lovely, but traffic in and out can be a 'mare so take a drive at rush hour before you decide. Beaulieu Gardens has a reputation but I don't think its as bad as it was. Don't know many of the areas in Aldershot so can't advice.0

Can anyone comment on the area to the north of Ash Rd in Aldershot?0

I think it's hard to comment on areas when you don't know someone, but I viewed a house in Pinewood Park, and we didn't like the area. Nice enough house though.
Possible reasons why you might be getting more for your money will be location, there's the army (although they are supposed to be leaving...), a football ground, trading estate type places with houses next door. We looked at a house in Aldershot that looked gorgeous, almost cottage like, but when we got there it was a few doors down from a warehouseIt just wasn't for us.
Farnborough has a pretty rubbish town centre. They're doing some work on it at the moment, but it's still not looking like it's going to be that great. Farnborough prices might also be affected by the flight path - I work at the business park next to the airport and there are some pretty big planes that fly in. On the plus side, you have Basingstoke and Guildford nearby for good shopping. A new cinema has opened up in Camberley which is closer than Basingstoke or Guildford. You're right next to the M3. Which might be another reason why you get more for your money - some of the houses are literally next door to it.0 -

I'd say that the manor park side of Ash Rd (i.e. towards south Aldershot - Elston Rd, Brighton Rd, etc) is much nicer than Waterloo Rd, and towards North Town and the football ground. however, none of it is as bad as people make out, all fairly quiet overall. depends what you're used to?0 -

Pinewood Park's major disadvantage is poor public transport.
yes, F'boro has a rubbish town centre, but is not as rough as Aldershot. F'boro also has NO nightlife whatsoever and only a leisure centre and a few posh hotels for entertainment.
the houses near the M3 are north F'boro near Cove and it can be an issue, but overall this is a good area to live. overall, i'd prefer to live in F'boro than A'shot, except Manor Park/Rowhill areas of A'shot which are very nice and close to Badshot Lea and Farnham but much cheaper. A'shot also has tennis courts in Manor park and 2 lovely parks and a quiet not too busy traffic feel.0 -

yes, but Aldershot has Raj Doot curry house on Victoria Rd - check it out best in the area, and Aldershot is on the main train routes (unlike Camberley) and is less busy for traffic and near lovely Farnham. A'shot is far superior to both Camb & B'stoke, both of which are soulless towns - at least A'shot has character.0
