well, my ideal would be to work in a 37 hour job which would be enough to pay the bills, fast track clearing the 5k debt I've built up and start replenishing my savings.
I don't want to go back to PR/Media management, I've really had it with that career, I could handle most aspects of it, but the thought of dealing with whinging journos would do my head in after about a month as well as staff who are doing really small events which think will attract a photographer/journo to attend and the reality is they won't and they find it hard to accept that nobody will come to their charity tea morning/world chip eating day display/free sticker for your bike open day.
That means I am really starting again, with using any general management experience I have so it's a bit more difficult because most middle management posts need experience of what you are managing (if you get my drift!!) and Poole has never been a hot bed of work opportunities. I'm working for the biggest employer and my last job was with the second biggest employer in the town. After that, it's stuff like banking/insurance type companies.
The reality is, it's going to be a case of working a 37 hour week office job on around 20k whilst I build my career back up (for the third time  ) and using teaching/invigilating and AQA to add meat to the bones of my salary.
Even getting to the 20k bit seems to be a tad of a hurdle at the moment  I'm currently earning around the same as I was in 1993.

I am idealistic when it comes to work-I've made so many wrong choices because 'the money was good' when my most favourite jobs and ones that made me happy and glad to go into work haven't been the best paid.
I would prefer to make less and be happy or learn a new career at any age then do a job for money. My Mom went back to uni at 38 and did 2 degrees and now teaches and loves it. It's never too late to learn something new.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Would you be able to do the journey? I know you've mentioned in the past that you have problem driving, would the stress be so bad that it wouldn't be worth it?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I agree Bunny, I left a very well paid job because it bored the pants of me and I found it very hard to get out of bed every day.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

well, the journey.........it would be 80% along roads I know (how sad am I that I've already worked it out  ) with a bit at the end I'd need to get over the hurdle of being scared about. I reckon I could do it through gritted teeth, it's partly along a busy dual carriageway which runs through Bournemouth but I have driven along it a few times over the years.
Before the poo of last week and realising how much bottom of the pile I now am with regards to my office job, I was the happiest I've ever been in a job, but things are now changing and it's given me the wake up call to shake myself up and sort myself out. I can't financially afford to be in a job which is lovely but pants pay - and this is what I've ended up doing. I've started a new career from scratch and it's bloody hard work at nearly 40 because there is only me paying the bills.

I would never have applied for my new job before but the changes I've made within myself this year (and encouragement from you lot) I finally got the nerve-hopefully I will like it so much I will go ahead with my plan to be a PC!Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0
