beware moorfoot estates

i have changed the thread title to help others.if you are a tenant,landlord please cancel any payments being made to this company and please check your deposits .they may not have been registered.

hi i am taking a letting agent to court.they have moved on from there address (moorfoot estates) even though website is still running and phone still on .i have had so much trouble with these i expect they have gone bust over the past few days .how do i find out a forwarding address ? of who to send a moneyclaim court order to.

Hi Jennie - you can check the company details online, including registered address, at the WebCheck facility at the Companies House website. I too am in the end stages of taking a letting agency to court through the moneyonline process - unfortunately they still refuse to pay up despite a court order so I am even more out of pocket with warrant fees etc. It is very frustrating that there are such cowboys out there isn't it! Good luck.

hi thanks i looked on webcheck for the info but now in even more confussed the address is totally different and is an accountants. i dont get it letting agent names is moorfoot estates. so who do i contact to take to court for my missing tenants deposit that was never secured.i have replaced the money myself today in a secure account tds .but now these scammers have stolen and prob spent the deposit

It sounds as though the letting agent is a registered company. If so, then the address for correspondence is the Company Secretary at the Registered Office - it doesn't matter if this is their accountants; it's the Registered Office that is the Company's official address.

However, if you think the Company has gone bust, there's no point filing a claim against them as there will be no money to pay you, even if you win.

Think carefully as to whether it's worth all the hassle. Sometimes it's better to chalk some things up to experience and to move on to better things.

hi thanks for the reply ,but how did you get to the name of donna? and that address.? i have thought that the owner of the company is a mr brendan taylor ,which is what the property onbudsman told me..who is also linked as a previous director at the lloyds and co accountant..i am going to the office tomorrow to see if they are still at the estate agents address.i would never trust an agent again

Jenni I have had the same problem with Moorfoot Estates Brendan Taylor was declared bankrupt in November 2008. Interestingly he appears to have the same address as Donna Voice 21 CADGWITH GARDENS,BILSTON,WEST MIDLANDS,WV14 8GY

I would be interested to know how u get on.

Looks like Taylor resigned at same time as his bankruptcy...


Whenever I get involved with a company (work for them, use them as an agent) I always get the Director Addresses & copy of the accounts from Companies House. You find out stuff, usually boring, sometimes interesting. & I figure if things go wrong I can at least go round & chat with the Directors and get their view on things.... ;-)
