Timeshare in Spain

You could always rent a week at the resort you are thinking about. It's a good way to see what the place is like.
I'm sure they would try to sell you something but you can't blame them for that. I've been to timeshare presentations before but have not bought anything. At least I got a few days free holiday in a 1st class resort.
The school holiday periods are going to be the most expensive of the year.
Remember that all timeshare in Europe does have to give you a cooling off period, so if you end up buying and regretting it, you can still cancel the contract. ( I think within 14 days). Please, please, please look at more reputable sites for info though such as TATOC. (Find it on any search enginge) Their consumer help section is very good.Debt Free and Happy. I would think that CLC are one of the more reputable timeshare companies around today. Of course they give people the hard sell but isn't that just normal business practice? You get the same thing if you go into Currys or any furniture shop. Nobody can force you to buy.....can they? The only thing against them is their points system; you'd be much better off with a fixed week.Debt Free and Happy. Enjoy Every Minute of Every Day.0

One of the main selling points on timeshare is the ability to exchange. If you really wanted 4 weeks in one place I would look for a fractional purchase .
I have 1 weeks timeshare in a place not visited for 10 years . not my best purchase BUT been on some great holidays , stayed in places that would cost alot more to rent the its costed me. ( although gap is closing each yr) - Had about 6 weeks ( exchange/ bonus) at a particular resort in Tenerife , where there are t/s apartments , hotel run apartments and thomson "reserved" apartments - the difference is great ( we get whirlpool bath , LCD TV ,DVD , Aircon )
Must be close on break even by now- taking into account initial costs, annual costs, exchange memberships/ fees helped by lower initial cost compared with most areas ( but not as low as resale) lower than average annual costs at my "home resort" .. who are moving to Euro based fees next year ( suppose only fair)
These days will hotel search sites I think there is less ebnefit to t/s. IF buying I would look at resale .. and try and ensure its a history of low annual fees- and make sure the place is good, with a good management (but does that mean Spain excluded ??)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

Aren't they blacklisted by the Timeshare Council then?
There's a very long thread here devoted to Club La Costa:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=462241&page=22
in which Marleyboy posted on 11/7/2009 the following:So long as CLC are in the Blacklist of the Timeshare Council - it will remain a SCAM! So long as Watchdog advise strongly against doing business with CLC - it will remain DODGY! So long as the mass media warn consumers against CLC, it will remain as a warning about CLC! So long as the majority of forums and the general public advise strongly against using CLC, it will be seen as a warning against using CLC.
Finally, as long as MSE says "dont touch them with a bargepole" - Its advised you dont touch them - with or without a bargepole.
Ultimately, CLC are a blacklisted timeshare company, noted by watchdog as a scam, with oodles of bad publicity from public opinion, also it is listed by the national Newspapers as a SCAM and plastered all over the internet as a company to avoid like the plague.
You have been warned
But if you haven't tried it, why don't you just take that risk...........................NOT!
So if everything Marleyboy says above is true and you say they are one of the most reputable timeshare companies around today - it doesn't say much for the rest of them, does it? :rolleyes:0 -
