Just got an email from TravelInsuranceWeb who I usually buy with becuase they seem to be the cheapest. Martin's artcile says they are already the cheapest for under 50's and they are currently offering and extra 15% off annual policies, so you can get annual european policy for £20 and worldwide for £32.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious but when using moneysupermarket.com I was quoted £8.81 for a couple going to Europe for 8 days or £9.78 including cancellation. This seems cheaper than the prices quoted on here so I was wondering if it seems right?Still trying to find my way around the forum...0

That's probably for people without pre-existing conditions.0 -
I hope this is in the right thread and hasn't been mentioned before but the discussion seems quite wide-ranging and goes on for years on end.
My Lloyds/TSB bank account gives me worldwide travel insurance for myself and a partner as part of the deal. This is not unusual of course but why I mention it is that I rang up to check that I would still be covered as I will reach 65 during my summer holiday and was pleased to be told that the cover is in place until the age of 80.
As an aside, yes of course there is a monthly fee for the bank account but there are other benefits included of which I use AA cover and Credit Card Sentinel (which I think costs something like £30 on it's own) and there is a healthy rate of interest on credit balances too.0 -
My husband and I always go for annual insurance, Nationwide £91, as we go away 4-5 times a year.He had a 4way heart by pass 2004 and now with all his new bits is a fit as afiddle. but on renewal they treat him as if he is still ill
also I get interrogated and because I have nothing wrong with me, not taking medication etc they seem to want to know why not!
He is 65 this year and no doubt the premium will rise should I think about taking my own annual insurance out as I am healthy 63, we also go away for 4weeks September & January and if we want to stay longer we have to take out extra cover but only before we go.0 -
Hi All,
My better half and I are going for 2 weeks in Orlando towards the end of the year, and have been looking for travel insurance. I have High Blood Pressure, she has Arthritis in her knees and an Underactive Thyroid so I have been looking at vendors that insure for Pre-existing Medical conditions. Most quotes have been giving me £120-£170 or thereabouts, but then I came across Flexicover Direct.
If you declare that have pre-existing conditions, they guide you to their sister site, www.healthscreen247.com which allows you to give a better account of your conditions.
HOWEVER! They state a list of accepted conditions that they cover without further premium, which allows for (amongst a host of other things) the following:-
High Blood Pressure treated by up to 2 tablets (I'm on 2 so thats covered)
Rheumatoid Arthritis without hospital admission for the last 12 months (the better half has 6-monthly checks, but there have been no admissions)
Underactive thyroid - (the better half has this controlled with medication)
Cost? £46.21 without Baggage Cover, £57.76 with Baggage cover (which I'm taking).
Does anyone have anything to bring up with this that might be worth investigating before I buy it?
Peace,

Just dropping a note to say I bought annual travel insurance with Flexicover about 6 months ago. Unfortunately I lost a valuable item on holiday so made a claim (don't know how my premiums will be affected next year) and sent off all the paperwork. Lo and behold, two weeks later, I received a letter to say my claim had been assessed and the cash paid into my account. The whole process was hassle free and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of service, especially since the premium had been the most competitive!
Would thoroughly recommend them. Well done Flexicover!0 -
I work in Florida with very close links to the travel insurance from the UK. There are many (usually gold card accounts) that give you "free travel insurance" in my experience they are not very good cover and I am told that basically if you owe £ 10,000.00 on your card they insure you against death on holiday (so they get their 10 grand back) and the little cover it does have is "hidden" as an incentive to you, their customer. The credit card company are not the insurers see who the underwriters are and look see what exactly you are getting, or not as the case may be.
I have had dealings (both good and bad) with these c.card free cover policies - remember Buyer Beware! - compare any coverage to Martin's Travel Insurance Recommendations - and here in the US a broken leg could cost $10,000.00 - after you've claimed is the wrong time to find out that you only had £ 2,000.00 medical coverage.C.
