As it would appear that AVG is fastened with superglue, I have managed (fingers crossed) to download the service pack 2.

I have seen it mentioned before that Avira is now the preferred option to AVG, so should I look at trying to get rid of AVG and install Avira?

Also, is there any further scan that I should run following the update to Vista?

Avira is only the preferred option by some posters and parrots on here.

I personally still use Avg as Avira does not scan Outlook express emails and Avast decided to corrupt all my restore points

think it's down to personally choice

Only today a poster with a touch pad problem was told to remove AVG and install Avira. What a joke!

And probably those who have looked at the AV Comparatives Tests:-

I don't even get troubled by false positives with Avira so there is no downside to the higher detection rates for me.

When I installed Vista servicepack2 my speakers stopped working. I use Realtek High definition audio.

I could see that something was happening as the level indicator was moving but no sound was coming from the speakers!

I used system resore and the sound came back.

    I haven't re-installed SP2 (I know I should)

    Any ideas?
