Thank your for your words of support Chickenpolis :A

Yes I am truly amazed at some of the more frugal posters on Mse, but as you say they have tried and tested methods and know they work.

I have alot of things going around in my head, (helicopter syndrome I am afraid).

I only have a small garden which is taken up mostly by a large pond. My father grows his own produce so may be able to take over there?

I also have a greenhouse which at the moment is host to 2 tomato plants :o Still they are coming on a treat. ;)

I thought and thought about what to do about my father and work, round and round it all went in my head. But I know I've done the right thing, the job in itself had become much more stressful and I wasn't happy with the practices that they wanted me to adopt.

Put that with the awful stress over my Dad and my blood pressure, (at its highest 220 over 150). I still cried floods though on my last day, the more people that rang me to wish me well the more I cried. It was a very upset and red and blotchy Budgie that walked out of that door.

Still I digress, you have to make a decision and stick with it, my problem is that I always stick with what I know, that in itself can be a mistake. But I know I wouldn't forgive myself if I didn't do the right thing.

But all things happen for reason........

So thankyou again and take care.

Good Morning, can someone please tell me that when you want to spend less and become more frugal, things seem to conspire against you?

We have a 110 watt pond uv which didn't seem to be clearing our pond water as effectively. So we have bought 2 new bulbs and another quartz sleeve at a cost of almost £60, Mr Bb has now put these items in and its still not working

So I am about to ring the pond shop that we have had all our bits from and ask their advice?

Its just so annoying...........Still hopefully there will be a solution which is not a costly one?

So will need to be extra oldstyle at this rate. :)

    Have a good day

Budget Babe - don't beat yourself up BB ( may I call you BB? ;))
You will NEVER get this time again , you are going to have tough days but you are in my opinion, doing it for all the right reasons.

Sorry to hear about the pond :( and your BP:eek: - this might be a time for healing all round x

    Morning Chickenpolis,

Of course you may call me BB though many on here call me Budgie :)

Yes you are right, I know that :) its just that when you start to work out a budget then something else pops up it throws you a little. Still some good news the nice pond shop is going to test my UV and hopefully they will be able to sort it. They cost almost £200 new.
I am hoping to get my blood pressure down now I don't have the pressure at work, targets etc etc. I worked in an Estate Agents and to be honest its been a nightmare how the housing market is etc.

When Dad is through the worst of his treatment I just want a simple job with no targets, I don't care what really, just something that you can do and go home and forget about.

Its strange but when you realise how precious life is then you realise what is important and whats not. I am going to try and live for each day without projecting into the future, because if we do that we miss out on what special things today can bring.

    Enjoy the sun :)

Well my beef bourguignon is in the oven as we speak and all veggies have been chopped for my soup, but I think I will actually cook this tomorrow now, but its just ready to stick on the hob. :)

I am going to strip our bed now and get that in the washer, in between watching F1.

Mr Bb plans to cut down the conifers this afternoon, he's got 5 days off next week so we need to catch up on the jobs outside that have been left.

My Ds bought his first house last January so we spent all our time off visiting him and doing jobs there last year, so things have been left here. He is 200 miles away so its not like you can pop down for an hour.

Still he's home next week for his Grandads birthday, Dad doesn't know its a suprise. :)

    Bye for now.

Well just had beef bourguignon, but I also made dumplings with it and it has also made 2 portions for the freezer. :)

The vegetable suet was bbf January but it was unopened and it was perfectly fine, I did google and found that one person had hers and it was 3 years out of date.

Also some mashed potato is left and I have a shepherds pie base in the freezer only a small one, but I will get this out for my dinner tomorrow and top it with the left over mash. (Mr BB is on a late shift) so only home for lunch.

Need to sort out my kitchen cupboards may do that tomorrow evening after I come back from Dads?

Its all very time consuming on how you can save money, I need to pop over to the grocery challenge thread in a bit.

Well I have been over to the grocery challenge thread and I have submitted a total of £250 for the month starting on the 28th, this is for Mr BB and myself. Will see how this pans out and then go from there.

Ideally a £200 figure would be more like it. ;)

Still we all have to start somewhere, I have read a thread also on drawing out the cash you need for each week, putting it into envelopes and only spending that.

I wonder if that would be a good idea?

    Hmmm much to ponder.
