SM, have you looked into grants to go back into education? If Philip was working and you wanted to go back to study, you would be able to get help with course fees and child care. Might be worth looking into if you really dont want to go back
The two best things I have done with my life

exactly what i wanted to do but i refuse to let philip pay for my debts so my plan has slightly changed ... as also now have to pay for my course and its not cheap (due to now being above a low income so cant claim for anything)
so plan is now
by this time next year all my debts paid,
the year after that get my licence and car
and the year after that go to college ..
so by the time im 30 im set ... oh and move in to a bigger house

oh SM do keep an eye out for classroom assistants though - you don't need quals for that.
you could get your cv on reed.co.uk et al. now with a note explaining the situation (and keep visiting the site weekly so it still shows when recruiters search).
if Philip gets a job maybe you could temp for a bit, twice I got a perm job out of a temp one

Just popped in to check on Caz....Well Done:D, How many hours is it a week?
I went into work last week to sort out my return to work date and changing my working days for when I return.....I have it all done now, and just need to post my section off to head office....I go back on the 20th October...which is the day before DS2's birthday (although I won't be in work that day anyway:)
