Hi MTW, how's things? Enjoying mummyhood? :)

    Hi elle!
Yes I am loving being a mummy! I know it sounds stupid, but I feel that being a mum is what I was meant to do with my life. Although I did have a few "dark days" right at the beginning, I am enjoying it so much now.
I was so proud of myself yesterday as I managed to clean the bathroom, it sounds silly now, but as I am getting back into a normal routine I feel more in control of things.

And she now officially "exists", as we managed to get her registered yesterday! So my job for today is to register her with the docs etc. I will get DH to do all the tax credits/CTF stuff on the weekend too.

I haven't managed to keep up with this thread though, but I will make an effort to try to keep up with all the gossip!

    How's Rhys elle?

work gave me a cheap hamper thing with lots of cheap and carppy stuff in it :o he hasnt worn anything out of it except the bibs when eating and the blanket!
:eek:I've just realised I'm soo ungrateful, I completely forgot about the big gifts we got :o My parents bought us the Pram, MIL got us the swishest travel cot (which was mainly used by Chris at MY mums :o) BIL got us the bouncy Chair which is one of my fave things (although I picked it so no kudos for him really :p) and my Grandparents B(my fave grandparents ;)) got me the crib

ETA: When Rhys was born he was covered in downy fluff and we wore it off his legs and arms where we were stroking him through the holes in the inci! :o He's still got fur on his shoulders, so cute!

Toby finally lost his 'fuzz' at about 10 weeks. I thought it'd never go! He still has a tiny bit on his back, but he was like a little fur ball when born!

    How's Rhys elle?

Doing really well, thankyou :) Now we've been home two weeks, I really need to get into more of a routine and make sure I have everything round the house done. I'm still impressed with myself if I manage to keep the kitchen tidy and the washing done! Remembering to eat, on the other hand, often escapes me..

We're still not dressed here, having a lazy day. Rhys has been BF again but it was more to keep him quiet while I was waiting for his bottles to sterilise! :o Having a bit of trouble getting him latched on, well, getting his mouth in the right place.. He's taken to bouncing around, sucking randomly wherever his mouth lands until he gets it right. Was easier when he was little (okay, littler!) as his neck wasn't so strong but now if I try to guide him he can duck out of the way!
Alice used to go for anything fleshy. When she was little I used to put pillows on my knee to support her so wuold hold her up while I put them on my knee and she would often go for my ear or nose. It was quite funny because you could see that she was going to do it just before she tried. Even now if she's in a rush she's not always a very good aim and a couple of months ago she started sucking away on completely the wrong part of my breast.
For anyone who is interested in BLW don't let the thought of choking put you off. The THEORY is that if a baby can put it in their own mouth then they can't (shouldn't) choke on it.

We don't put any food into Benjamins mouth...although I keep having to stop hubby from putting it into his hand - baby needs to be able to pick it up and put it in their own mouth (they can't do this with small things like grapes until MUCH later).
Also they have a gagging reflex which should protect them from choking. Over time the reflex gradually moves backwards so that by the time the reflex has moved far enough back for them to actually eat they have had lots of practice at manipulating food in their mouth. (Purees bypass the reflex because they are runny.)
I wanted to ask about Bouncy Chairs...I stupidly read the back of Benjamins yesterday and it says that it shouldn't be used once the child can sit unaided.

Benjamin is sitting now...although not usually for longer than a minute and only usually when I amuse him with something (although he wants to sit up all the time).
He loves his bouncer...it keeps him occupied for ages playing with the teddies so I love it too. I have got no hope of keeping up with you guys when he has to stop using it :o

So - when do you stop a child sitting in a bouncy chair?
When Alice started sitting up she started trying to do so in the bouncy seat which had the potential to tip it over. If she'd been happy to just lie in it still I would have carried on using it but obviously it wasn't safe if she tried to sit up. I reckon we got longer use out of the Bumbo seat than the bouncy chair but mainly because Alice had fat legs so took a long time before she could get out of it.

Our cot, mattress, bedding, pram, car seat, travel cot and travel bouncy chair were all bought with money my mum won on the Lottery between Nov and May but she refuses to let me count them as presents from her cos she says it's not her money she spent on them

All I've bought is the crib (which still hasn't turned up!), play gym, play mat, change mat, bath and all the clothes, nappies and wipes.. :o
