Completing on a house when there might be a swin flue epidemic....

This entire thread is just stupid, with the basis on 'What if'.
Only 29 people have so far died of Swine Flu, all of them with underlying health problems. On average each winter 6000-8000 people die of flu.
People are worrying far too much about this and it's only really a concern if you have other health problems which are mainly related to your respiratory system.
Thinking that Swine Flu is going to prevent you moving in August is the kind of attitude that will bring this country to a halt in August as I have no doubt millions of people will be 'off sick' during August with a runny nose and afraid to go out at the risk of being infected. People won't turn up for work, people won't go shopping, people won't travel etc etc which is all just ridiculous.
We should be living life as normal - I'm still in disbelief of this entire thread!
As for the terrorist attack post - what utter rubbish again.
I just want to point out I am the OP and I do agree with you, however low the possibility of the risk, the cost of not completing seems pretty high. I just want to buy cheap insurance that the sky is not falling down.0 -

Whereas solicitors,,, best of luck !!
Actually , this isnt true we are rarely let down we dont take bookings unless the dates are confirmed , we have on the odd occassions had a move cancelled at the last minute but its not that often and what normally happens the move is postponed by a few days and not cancelled . I am not sure what what you been by them being the most adaptable trades ? its not really a job you can just bring anyone in to cover .
However back to the swine flu , while there is a risk that employees will go down with it , I doubt they would all get it at the same time? ..........well mine had better not !!:rotfl:0 -
I have a friend who bought his flat in London seven or eight years ago. He gave serious thought to what would happen if there were a CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear) terrorist attack in central London, and how this could affect the value of properties in certain parts of inner London.
Tbh if this happens I doubt anyone affected will be worrying about the value of their property !! ( nice to know people have their priorities right lol )0 -
House moves are not at the all time high, I'm sure that there are removal firms crying out for work. If one company's staff did take a hit with some employees off, they could find some elsewhere.
Next you are going to worry about the solicitor being able to complete if he has swine flu.
A bigger worry would be trying to organise a house move yourself with a temperature of 103 and being told to stay indoors and not infect others.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
