Completing on a house when there might be a swin flue epidemic....

Sorry to have such a question as a first post. I just wanted some general thoughts about having a completion date in late August when we are nominally due a swine flue epidemic. What happens if the removal people don't have enough people to move you on the day ?

Gonna assume you ar being serious.

We are already in a pandemic, albeit a level 1 by UK standards, which only kick in after we hit global pandemic from the WHO scale. 20m might get it or another 200k, you can't control it.

Get on with it, don't worry and it'll should turn out ok

While I know the risk is LOW the apparent lost could be very high. We are lucky that this strain is pretty mild however if we do get two or three weeks with 25% infection levels then we would be in some trouble. I am not suggesting millions will die, its just as likely that million will decide its a good excuse for having some time off.

Any idea if I could insure ( if its cheap ) to mitigate the risk ?

I want to insure against the removals company not being able to move us on the date of move.

I think the amount would be could be liable for could be quiet high while the amount the removal company would be liable to us for is likely to be limited to the amount they charge ?

What about insuring against the legal company going down with swine flu and not being able to complete the transaction?

If a removal company don't have enough staff they will use something commonly known as 'agency staff'. They will spread their exerienced staff around with agency people to complete the job.

All you need to do is check that the removal company has adequate insurance for your property in their care.

What on earth are you doing worrying yourself about that for. Why dont you insure yourself about the removal men getting run over by a bus or the van being in a crash. The risk is about the same. Stopy worrying and let the removal men do the worrying. They probably dont even give it a second thought.
Are you a born worrier or what.
Enjoy your new home, you'll get there and wonder why you were wasting time worrying about it. Good luck
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

My wife is a born worrier, I am happy go lucky. However I am the one who has to talk to everyone.

[ The solicitor is less of an issue as one more solicitor is probably easier to find then four more removal people for two days ]

Don't worry, if one firm cant do it, another will be able to.. Removal firms are probably one of the most adaptable trades there are,, they are always let down at the last minute and have to readjust..

Whereas solicitors,,, best of luck !!
