Don't worry, if one firm cant do it, another will be able to.. Removal firms are probably one of the most adaptable trades there are,, they are always let down at the last minute and have to readjust..

Whereas solicitors,,, best of luck !!

Well we first wanted to move at the end of the month but the two reasonably priced movers I know of in the area are completely full for two weeks away.
  • I wouldnt worry to much as most removal firms have back up staff. You could phone your removal comapny and ask the question if it would put your mind at rest . I have just moved and i know how stressfull it can be.
I was told the worst of the swine flu will be winter Oct onwards.
    good luck

Sorry to have such a question as a first post. I just wanted some general thoughts about having a completion date in late August when we are nominally due a swine flue epidemic. What happens if the removal people don't have enough people to move you on the day ?

What will you do if you have swine flu on moving day?

  • You would just have to hire a van and do it yourself. Good luck.

I know..................but if they were desperate and the whole of the area was struck down by swineflu.

Anyway it is how we always do it despite all your listed reasons. :rotfl:

We hire a 7 tonner and get some friends to help.

There was me thinking I had this worrying taped, yet I never thought of this.

Why not hedge your bets by avoiding Friday/Saturday, mid week is usually less busy.

I have a friend who bought his flat in London seven or eight years ago. He gave serious thought to what would happen if there were a CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear) terrorist attack in central London, and how this could affect the value of properties in certain parts of inner London.

This entire thread is just stupid, with the basis on 'What if'.

Only 29 people have so far died of Swine Flu, all of them with underlying health problems. On average each winter 6000-8000 people die of flu.

People are worrying far too much about this and it's only really a concern if you have other health problems which are mainly related to your respiratory system.

Thinking that Swine Flu is going to prevent you moving in August is the kind of attitude that will bring this country to a halt in August as I have no doubt millions of people will be 'off sick' during August with a runny nose and afraid to go out at the risk of being infected. People won't turn up for work, people won't go shopping, people won't travel etc etc which is all just ridiculous.

We should be living life as normal - I'm still in disbelief of this entire thread!

As for the terrorist attack post - what utter rubbish again.
