Hi
Has anyone experience overcharging by Orange for thier mobile broadband service. My monthly limit is 3GB and I am sure that I am not using this amount per month. Only downloading the odd emal and visiting occasional web sites. The monthly charge should be 14.67 but in recent months has been higher than this and last month when I did not use the service at all and a bill of £31.35 arived. I have written to Orange at thier customer service address many weeks ago but they have not bothered to reply. I am consdering paying up and cancelling the remainder of my 18 month contract (6 months to run) as I do not want bills of an unknown amout each month. Cant tell how Orange calculates usage. All bill says is the amount - not even what taffif I am on.

Have they by any chance put your price up?

Thanks for reply
I dont think that orange have put the price up. Its still being advertised as 14.68 for 3GB per month and I have not been informed of any price increase. In any case the amount I am charged seems to vary month by month. Contacted Orange today by email and they have said that they do not know if thier customer services have received my letter as they have no way of checking. Seems to me that one Orange hand does not have any idea what the other is doing. email customer services also have refused to help refering me to a help line number but other post have indicated that these are not very helpful.0 -
Why not just telephone or email them about the letter (maybe even including it in an email) and then get them to sort it out0

Have done exactly as you say. emailed with copy of letter. Refused to help by email. Really wanted somthing in writing from Orange. wanted to know WHY they have been overcharging and WHY there is absolutly no info on thier bills about what I am being charged for. Will probably have to phone them and probably get the run around if other posts, on other sites, are to be believed0

Have you got any viruses on your laptop? They could quite easily be using your bandwidth.
Do you watch YouTube or iPlayer? They are bandwidth hungry.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
No should not have any virus on laptop as anti virus software upto date. Only used for occasional email and odd website visit when travelling (in UK). Dont use any streaming sites. In fact when I got last unexpected bill I had not used the dongle in the previous month!0

Cant you access your account online to see a breakdown of charges0

Have investigated more and these excess charges seem to relate to "multimedia texts received" that I have not subscribed to. They are 88222, 81515, and 82344. at a cost of either £1.28 or £2.12 each!. At least one appears to be some form of lottery scam.0

Just an update.
Orange customer services so far have been their usual unhelpful selves. They are insisting that I must have instigated these multimedia texts. Why would I want a ringtone for my internet dongle! Only suggestion is to send a STOP ALL command to them (at my additional cost). Orange say they "are not linked or affiliated with WIN". Orange also say they are not able to BLOCK/CANCEL messages of this type. I susspect its not in thier interest to do so as they make also money indirectly from this type of scam.0
