    Good morning all!

Taplady - hope the race goes well, and I'm sure Lesley will be alongside you. How are her family now? xx

Bitsy - come on down, Somerset is lovely! Moved here from the south east 8 years ago, and absolutely love it!

Hester - well done on your NVQ talk xx

Jackie - congrats to you and all your family on the great results, and bless your dd getting the voucher for her mum, what a lovely girl xx

Stef - your dgs is lovely, what a sweet story xx

Diva - so pleased that you have been chatting to Tristan, he is still in my prayers xx we have lots of blackberries at the end of the summer, perhaps I should whizz a few down to Taunton when your oh is working and give him some to bring home?! xx

Well me and the girls have just had a nice breakfast, and are about to start on the house. ds will be tidying up the garage a bit cos I can no longer get into it! Cooking today will minimal, as only just had breakfast, and meant to be at bbq tonight - well will be if the weather picks up a bit, else I think it'll be rained off, keep an eye on the news for stories about people being blown from Somerset to Wales!

Have a great day all xx

    :hello:Hello!

Just a quick post today. Haven't posted for a few days but been reading!:D

Today is turning out to be a pottering day - after church, have just been doing odd bits and pieces as they occurred to me. Don't really know where this week went - I can't believe it's time to change the bedding already :p

DW has just finished, and I think I'll have a day off from washing today. I really want to do some decluttering, but it's hard, as DH hates throwing things away in case they come in useful in several years' time  DS has hired a van and gone to Oxfordshire to buy a new (to him) engine for his car, so I do hope he's not planning to put the old one in the garden while he works out what to do with it

((((HUGS)))) to everyone, and sorry this is so short - i have to email my cousin, so have to make sure I've got enough energy for that as well:o

Hope everyone has a good afternoon

    Afternoon all:j:j

Well the tidying is going well:Tliving room is done and the kichin is also done we have had our dinner to. In the endwe had roast veg with the brisket. It was easyer to do as we were tidying up at the same time as cooking.

    Swine flu.
I dont think there is much point in anyone worrying about getting it. From the info that the Gov is giving out there is now no stopping it and a lot of peopel will end up caching it. So there is nothing we can really do.

Kids under 5 can not have tamiflu the drug that helps you to fight it so it is a worry for us all with little ones.
Also people like my self and others on here who have other health problems it might mean that we will suffer more than others. But the main point is that most who get it will be ok and recover well including people with other health complants.
One of the things that we are doing is putting more garlic in our cooking As garlic can help fight colds and flu. 9good for you in many other ways too)

One of the things that we all can do on here is suport each other as the flu spreds we can give each other help and tips on what to do with the sick ones we are looking after.

Like if you have a sore throt put a hot jacket spud in a sock and wrap it around you throurt:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I read that in an very old book that i have.
But really we can keep each other upto date and offer suport.

Well i hope that you are all having a good day.
Im now off to do a bit more cleaning
    all the best everyone
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

    Afternoon all,

One of those days here when it is raining and the sun is shining at the same time, not very warm though.

We are having roast chicken for dinner, with carrots, parsnips and peas and steamed new potatoes...ice cream for pudding with whatever fruit I can forage from the garden.

DGD2 went home to Cork yesterday afternoon, she and her parents are en route to Japan for 3 weeks to see their Japanese family.

Hugs to all who are in need or want,

    Marie

    Afternoon all,

Been out in the garden all day, had a good tidy up ,and OH mowed the lawn, my veg is suffering a bit with all the rain, but I have picked another load of tomatoes, and there are french beans, corgettes runner beans and peas ready to pick, I will pick them tomorrow, and have them fresh for dinner :T.

My car looks and smells fantastic, after the valet, its like new,so am very pleased with it.

Taplady well done you, glad the rain help off xx

Haribo so glad you had a nice break, poor twin1, ouch, bless her, give her a big hug from me, once it starts to heal you can get some of that Bio oil and rub on, which helps to fade scars, hope she is ok xxx

Just had dinner jacket spuds, with ham cheese and salad from the garden, just having a rest for an hour, then off to walk little dog.

    Have good evenings all xx

    Afternoon all,

MSD - some people do defy medical expectations & there's just no explanation for it. Whilst I'm not a great believer in "prayer" as such, I do believe in 'something' - certainly it has worked for Tristan. I bought myself a thornless blackberry bush a few weeks ago which I have got in a big pot in my garden - it will be interesting to see what fruit I get from it.
Taplady, well done on your achievement in the race today & I'm sure Lesley was there in spirit with you too.
Haribo - ouch to your poor DD :( But glad you had a lovely holiday otherwise & thank you for the welcome back. I am a BA(Hons) now :)
Kathy, sounds like you are really settling into French life - I am quite jealous!

Been very virtuous today & been up to the gym, then for a quick swim afterwards too. I joined WW a few weeks ago & lost 3lb in the first couple of weeks (which I was pleased about as I had a tummy bug, then my stay at Champneys). I think I have done well this week but will find out tomorrow..

Meantime I have a YS mini lamb joint roasting, and am definitely ready for it!

((hugs))) for all those needing one.

    .

:T:j:beer::D Well done missus. xxxx That's what I am too. ;)

Seem to be getting through the washing mountain and the banana mountain has been turned into a dozen banana and pecan muffins and a dozen banana, date and maple syrup muffins. Also made a dozen raspberry cheesecake muffins with freshly picked berries.
Roast chicken in the oven and HG baby carrots, mange tout and peas in the steamer. That's the last of the peas so will get some more brassicas in their place next week.

Well done on the race Taplady. :beer:xxx

    Haribo x

Hello Everyone - Hope you dont mind me joing in - Although I dont post at all on here, I have been an MSE member for a few years and read everyday. (Love this section the most)

Have had the morning to myself so have ben writing out recipies in my new book from the good food website - and trying to finish my cross-stitching (have had it two months already and have been putting off doing big chunks as its so fiddily!) Just done me and OH ham salad rolls for lunch as a light snack as we are going out to a party at 7pm so food will be provided.

Hope you all sont mind me joing in - you all seem so friendly here :)

Hope youre all having a good day. Gem xx

(TapLady - Congrats on doing the Race for Life - you should be very proud of yourself!!)

Taplady - glad you stayed dry! Lesley's dd must be sad that her mum didn't get to see her babe, but I'm glad that they are all starting to come to terms with it, hopefully the babe will give them something beautiful to focus on xx

Ivy - I once came home from work to find a motorbike engine being stripped in the middle of my kitchen, argh! xx

Halight - to get all the healthy giving properties from garlic you need to crush it and leave it for 10 mins before you use it, something about how it reacts with the air? Not sure what but was listening to something on radio 4 a few weeks ago about it, mentioned it to oh who's a chef who just went "yeah that's right", guess it was just me who didn't know then lol! xx does acyclovir work for swine flu, assume it does as it simply stops virus' multiplying, and that can be given to babies, perhaps that'll be used instead? As you say though, not much point worrying! xx

Well have done the house with the kids, all tidy-ish! oh arrived back and we took dd2 and dd3 into town, needed some bits for dd2's hol with her best friend, slight prob with passport so she may end up going last 2 weeks in August, rather than the first 2 weeks, but just looked on website and the flights that her friend's mum is going out and back on have plenty of spaces and aren't breathtakingly expensive lol!

Weather here has been terrible, if anyone is watching T4 on the beach, that's about 200 yards away from where oh lives, and where we're having a bbq tonight! Saw loads of people drenched in town and heading home early, station was full of early leavers! Tesco sold out of black bin bags and brollies! And shoe shop had sold out of wellies apparently!

Blue sky now with just white clouds rather than the big black ones, so have high hopes that the weather forecast is right and the westerly wind is blowing it all eastwards! So bbq for us for dinner, all staying with oh tonight, so kids are digging out sleeping bags and preparing bags and unforms for schools tomorrow, as we will be coming back early so they can get change and catch their buses!

Hope everyone has a nice evening xx

Edit: Gemshaw - welcome and lovely to read your post, it's lovely and friendly here xx
