The seller is selling lots of items - its a marketing strategy (as it gets the items to the top of a list when searching for cheapest price) and presumably a risk the seller has built into their business model.
It's like selling anything starting at 99p with or without added postage (in this example, usually to benefit from free insertion), but where the seller obviously hopes to get much more."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
