We can't possibly comment until we know the details of your claim, what they asked, and what you said.
Care to elaborate?

I used to work for them, and I can tell you that they are really hot on their training and expect you to be friendly and courteous at all times - it's drummed into you constantly that when you answer the phone, whether it's an external call or just internal, that you must be friendly.0

Not with them any more, used to be and had a claim. Can't remember any problem, although it was during the time when they had stopped including a courtesy car, which I hadn't opted for. So they let me have one by adding it to the policy AFTER I had the accident. Seemed a very good approach to me.
OP I think you need to give some specifics as to what exactly they said/what you said. I tend to find that when people hear the words "no, we can't do that" they think the voice is a little snootier than the words "yes, of course we can do that for you", regardless of the actual tone of voice.

Well what can i say ...i have had recently taken out insurance with Direct Line,
i had to make a claim recently
As others have said what was the policy for, it may be that some insurance companies are suspicious of people that have 'recently' taken out a policy and then had to 'recently' make a claim.0 -
Our entire household is DirectLine. Contents, Buildings, Cars, Holidays, Pet etc. Absolutely brilliant in every respect, every time.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
If I was covered with them I would hope that Stephen Fry or Paul Merton would answer the phone and deal with my claim, it would make the claim a much more enjoyable experience.
I would agree with Quentin, Directline are the opposition for me as I'm a broker but they are one of the few direct companies that do normally give fairly good cover and good customer service. I admire the fact they are one of the few Insurers of their size that only have UK call centres.0 -
OP, by the way you have been replying to people's posts here, I can only assume that you were rude to the staff at Direct Line. If you are rude to them, I would expect them to treat you in a similar way.0

I moved away from Direct Line after many years - we had a claim (leak after those heavy downpours a couple of years ago) and they nit picked and made me feel very uncomfortable, sending an assessor round - when it was a valid and reasonable (cheapest quote) claim. I was so fed up I shopped around at renewal - and found that they treat longstanding customers really badly when it comes to premiums - you can get a much better deal by shopping aroundDownshifted

I have been with DL for years but was shopping around last year for renewing my car insurance and the funny thing was if I entered the details into DL website the price came up cheaper than the renewal price they quoted me.
I enquired about why this was and told him I would just cancel that policy and renew it online. The chap said they would match the price.
So give it a try before you renew.0 -
I've used Direct Line for pet insurance for the last 7 years and it's been a pleasure to deal with them so far. The premium isn't the cheapest but we have platinum cover and all we do is phone them for a claim form, fill it in and pass it to the vet. Never had any problems and I'd estimate that the vet fees have exceeded the policy price to date.0
