Nemo PPI Claims?

Hi Di, I hope you are well too!
We did indeed take out 2 loans with Nemo, the second one was a sort of a "top up" loan, if you understand what I mean.
The first one started out as an online application, which was initially through Capital One. I have a capital One credit card, and they were regularly writing to us offering good deals on loans, so I applied. Once they approved the application it was referred to Nemo to advance it. To be honest, this was a bit of a surprise, as we had assumed (dangerous to do that in this day and age, I know!!!) that Capital One were going to be the lender, then we got a call from Nemo advising us of their involvement, so to speak.
The second loan was taken out a little while later, which also paid off the first one, but this was directly with Nemo. Capital One were not involved in this at all.
Hope this all makes sense & thanks again!
P.S. I'm still waiting for the proper disc, but I guess it is a bit soon yet!0 -

Hi there
Its good to hear from you.;)
Same as us then, we had two loans with them, where now completely settled, we had the first loan in Nov 2005 arranged through a broker called Twopart, and of course they arranged for this Nemo loan.
Then we had the loan advance in July 2006, which also paid off the first loan, we settled by remortgaging in Aug 2007.
I would ask them to send you a written breakdown of the first loan as well, with mine it was quite a substantial amount rebated into the new loan advance.
We had the 2nd loan ppi resolved through the FOS and now pursuing the broker on the first one (Twopart) but they liquidised, and now have this one with the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS).
If you not been given the breakdown of the first loan, they should be able to send these to you on request, this should help then work out what they rebated into the loan advance.
Good luck and hope you receive that disc very soon.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

The latest update...
Got another letter from Nemo this morning (10/10/09). They say that they aren't sending us another disc, so they listed the times and dates of the said phone calls in the letter. They claim that they have no records of any other calls, and believe that the "missing" calls may have been between us and the original broker. In closing the letter they have advised that they are now unable to offer any more information and have suggested that we take the matter further with the FOS.
We are still convinced that there were more calls made between them and us, so maybe this will also help our case.
So, onwards to the FOS it is then.... I'll keep you all posted!
Thank to all for your feedback, and best regards.0 -

Hi hun
I don't blame you for going the FOS direction hun, you go for it and let them sort these muppets out.
Remember to enclose the copies of correspondence from them with the complaints form and you can of course download and print from the FOS site, or ring them to send one through the post.;)

In regards of the missing calls, that would not surprise me either.
Good luck and this and look forward to hearing from you again soon.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

hi there
we have sent the recordings and a copy of the contract from nemo to the ombudsman. our loan is for 20 years too ,as we all know insurance is only for first five which is useless. The only thing i am concerned about is that i said to them on the recordings that how happy we were and thanking them for the best deal. we were very unexperienced in this process i dont know if we stand any chance  what do you think ????
thank you for your advice0 -

Hello there and do not worry.
We all say thank you and think at the time it was a good deal and also tell them that, as they do try to make it sound good, so we say these things out of courtesy, this does not mean we did understand it, believe me I didn't...:o, so not to worry and good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi I am new to this forum but really interested to hear about problems with Nemo Personal Finance. I took them through the FSO a couple of years ago and unfortunately i did not win with my complaint and i have now lost my house and come out with a debt with Nemo of around £120,000 half of that is PPI. I complained orginally about the interest rates no being lowered although at the time bank of england lowered them. I complained that we had been mis sold the PPI. We took out a secured loan with Nemo then paid that first loan off and took another secured loan with them, each time the amount of PPI increased as it was included in the orginal load. I had lots of problems with this company and dealing with their solicitors was just as bad. I am waiting for a letter to drop through my door with the final debt i owe them, then they can take me to court as i will take them through the National Newspapers how they exploit their customers and manipulate them in to taking out PPI with them. Good luck with your case and hope you have more luck with winning it.0 -

Hello and Welcome Diane.;)
So sorry to hear that.
So the FOS did not see this in your favour and now you lost your home?
Blimey that is awful, so sorry for you.
I know Nemo were not the easiest to deal with when we were dealing with them and so far, to what I know of no-one up to now have been successful with being successful directly with them, but only through the FOS.
I think if it wasn't for the copy of the phone recordings, this is where it helped us.
Do you mind me asking, how long ago was this when you taken them to the FOS?
Just a thought, but if you since lost your home and Nemo are being known for mis selling recently, you could try to contact the FOS tell them the outcome of your issues here, where they could write to Nemo on your behalf, as a brand new complaint perhaps??The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi, thanks for your advice. We took out the orginal loan about six years ago, i would have to dig out my paperwork to find the dates of the complaint, we had all the details of conversations between myself and Nemo although when we received them (on paperwork only) but were available on tape i thought that some of the coversation had been deleted.
I got in to trouble with them because when we needed to claim the PPI they said my partner (now seperated) who was self employed at the time wasn't covered as it was the first named person on the loan, i contacted Norwich Union and they confirmed he wasn't covered but i thought i orginally took out the loand to cover us both. The payments partly because of the PPI and the amount NEMO added on to the loan with PPI made the loan repayments so high it got the a stage we both salaries coming in we could not afford to continue with the mortgage, it put so much strain on our relationship it broke us up and our home, i handed the keys back and spoke to Nemos solicitors who said they were charging me £30 a day interest until the house had been sold on top of all the charges they had already added to the orginal loan it wouldn't shock me if i receive a letter from Nemo informing me i owe them over £120,000! thanks for your advice though i may complain further again and i am my ex partner completely agrees NEMO played a massive part in our break up and the loss of a family home....0 -

You truly deserve to win this complaint hun, this is dreadful!
It may be useful if you have not done so yet, request for a Subject Access Request (SAR), they must send everything they hold on you, they have 40 days to comply and there is a charge of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this.
This should not be left there, I would class this as a brand new complaint and get it in with the FOS, and ask them to act on your behalf with this one.
There is a template letter here for the SAR:

Eversheds their solicitors are not much cop either.
I assume these are the ones they used? The one and only "Dizzy Di"
