BT no more paper bills, Comments

There's a link in that e-mail from BT to tell them you want to continue to receive paper bills - one click and it's done (no need to send e-mails).littlemissmoney wrote:Argh, I got sent this email today.
I have emailed them to say I want to continue with my online account *and* getting paper bills, so I will see what they sayTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
The email says "Please do not use this link if you would like the paper-free benefits detailed above." So are they not making you choose between online OR paper?

I've had both for ages.littlemissmoney wrote:The email says "Please do not use this link if you would like the paper-free benefits detailed above." So are they not making you choose between online OR paper?
I just read the link said "Click here to keep your paper bill" and so I clicked it. If it'd said, "Click here to keep your paper bill and lose the ability to see your account online" I would have kicked up a fuss.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Doh, I miss understood the "please do not use this link if you would like the paper-free benefits detailed above" bit then. I too have been receiving both for ages, but I thought that was the "important change" they were emailing me about. I think your interpretation is more sensible though, and my email to them is going to make me look a bit dim

just set up my mail redirection for moving and the form specifically states that you can't use printed off bills. I am going back to all paper when we move so I have proof of address.
also agree that any cost savings will only benefit share holders not customers.:T Quidco - £210.12:j0 -
I got *another* email this morning on this saying my paper bills will stop unless I click the link. Thats my 2nd one in 5 months. Why should I keep having to opt back out everytime they feel like emailing me? It's not a nice game.

As said above, this is great for helping to save the planet by reducing the amount of paper sent out, but it really annoys me when companies think we are thick...
They couldn't give a s**t about the environment, they just want to save £millions each year on ink, paper, postage, peoples time etc etc without giving a penny back.
If they gave a discount then it would be fair enough, even a couple of ££ a year would show willing but its just take, take, take!!

How embarrassing for you, Morph3us. BT are giving a 25p a month discount for doing this online, meaning you say £3 a year.
So: 'If they gave a discount then it would be fair enough, even a couple of ££ a year would show willing but its just take, take, take!!'
Good old BT!Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -
You might save £3 a year (from 2007), but if you needs to prove your address and end up having to pay for a paper copy of a bank statement or something for £5 then it's not very money saving. I think I would need to save at least £3 a quarter for me to consider it worth it.
