Maybe if you post the location on here, someone may know someone who could help? could be worth a chance, you never know who is reading this!!

Sorry to hear your bad news.

We had a similar problem when our DJ cancelled on us one week before the wedding. Got the then HTB on the radio, to Ed Doolan, and within 4 hours we had information on a number of DJ's to choose from.

    Good luck!!
;) The toast proposed at our wedding was for "health, wealth and happiness". Our family may not have the health and wealth but we make up for it with the happiness:D

So sorry to hear that, can't even imagine how stressed you must be feeling *hugs*

I second two of the above ideas, post your location on here and see if any of us know of any local gems, and give your local paper a ring or an email. I am sure they will be interested in your plight and you will most likely get some offers from local businesses.

Sorry to hear about your venue.Do you have a local newspaper? Get your story in a.s.a.p. and maybe another venue will try to help out maybe offering rooms & facilities for your chef or giving a good discount on their own services,it would be good publicity for them and could help solving your problem.

omg I am so sorry to hear about that

I hope no one was hurt in the fire??

What a shock - and so close to your date as well. The chef has offered to cook for you elsewhere so at least you have something to start with. I agree with the idea above about contacting the local paper. With things like this, there is always someone willing to help out

Good luck - keep us posted xxxx

L, no-one was hurt in the fire thankfully. I really do feel for the owners as they put so much into it and was a really lovely place.
The press, yes, someone suggested this too - might get HTB to sound it out (I'm quite shy though)

Met with my family today and they've made one or two suggestions. We also looked at another venue which is available on the 5th Sept. Its about 30 mins further away so will affect everyone travelwise. Its licensed too, so we could get a registrar the marry us there maybe? Wont know until we speak with register office again. Foodwise, its pretty expensive, and we just had coffees today, so no idea what the food is like. I'm worried about too flowers/photographer/hair and make-up as they might not travel that far? Its lovely, but it isnt my venue, doesnt have the atmosphere, and would be a lot more money. I dont want to get into debt for my wedding, this would mean we would.

We're meeting with the original venue owner this week to find out if we could postpone until its ready. If its only a few weeks we may postpone....a few months then its winter and all of my summery things wont work. I feel like I'm having to start over again, and with less than 7 weeks to go I'm feeling completely overwhelmed.

Thank you for all your messages of support.

    H xx

PS....ooops, forgot to mention, we're in Hexham, Northumberland

Does the venue have any insurance to cover this forced cancellation? Maybe they could speak to their insurers about covering any extra costs you will incur as a result of the fire?

i just had a thought - you need to get onto your registrar asap - as far as i can remember you have only given notice for that location. if the location changes you will need to give notice again

Aw no, that's awful, really sorry to read that. Are there any village or community halls in the area with catering kitchens that you could use?
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
