Hi,
I can upgrade my contract (I'm currently with 02) in three weeks time.
I thinking of a 3GS on a £35 contract. My one big issue is the lack of text messages 500 is such a piddly amount.
Has anyone managed to blag more than 500 from them?
I currently pay £35 for 600mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet. The Iphone contract is almost identical except for texts and wifi (which I couldn't care less about). I would resent paying the same money for less texts.
Cheers
Barry

The Iphone contracts are pretty much set in stone- clearly O2 don't make the same margin on the phone because of Apple and need to recoup some money back via a low text amount. Texts are dirt cheap to source and can provide huge margins for networks.
If you can wait then I'd see what happens regarding the Iphone being offered on other networks, O2 may drop their prices accordingly.0 -
The iphone is now offered by other networks so maybe you should wait a bit longer? I read that the fastest phone will remian exclusively with 02 though (not sure what this means as I don't know much about iphones)
who else offers it? do you have a link? i thought it was november o2's exclusivity runs out? i thought you could only get it sim free to use on networks not a contract as such?0 -

"Apple is poised to open the iPhone 3G to Orange and T-Mobile in a bid to boost sales.
The move is set for as early as September and will end Apple’s two year exclusive deal with O2.
Crucially, the manufacturer will continue to give O2 exclusivity for the new, faster 3GS version, but will grant distribution of the older 3G handset to another network"

thanks! hopefully there will be a price war then!0 -
They may sell it cheaper than O2 though- especially on PAYG. A sub 300 quid Iphone is possible in my opinion.0

Only way to get more texts is to buy the iphone as PAYG and use a Simplicity sim for just under £20pm giving you 600 minutes, 1200 texs and unlimited internet.0 -

Its just such a crap contract with the amount of texts offered.0
