As I understand things a DIYer can do this work but must have it certified by a GSR, or previously, by a small dog owned by the Queen.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

And the GSR member is taking full responsibility for the work and any problems that happen relating to this work, personally I wouldnt take the risk if it was me.

....unless the DIYer is a competant person in the field of gas work.

....But then they would do all the relevent checks anyway and woudn't need a GSR engineer to check the work over

Competent person a person who has acquired through training, qualification or experience, or a combination of them, the knowledge and skills to carry out a particular task.

In short no you shouldn't do it but people do, do their own gas work.

If they sorted things out properly and stopped selling any fitting or appliance that is gas specific (Boilers, Fires, Cookers & Hoses, Bayonet Fittings etc etc), to anyone unless they produce their GSR card there is no way they are going to stop DIYers doing their own gas work anyway.

Man going up replied - "No, do you know anything about gas cookers"
