If indeed the company have made no further attempt to contact him, then they are clearly at fault.
If the matter goes to court, then a transcript of the telephone call(s) should be available.
Unless you can get a solicitor to take the case on a 'no win -no fee' basis(which I doubt) you might be looking at a lot of additional expense.
Yes, I agree that they are at fault.
Apparently recorded calls are retained for only 30 days.

Nope its called direct debit, and they didnt enter the property as yours was an external meter.
I think we need to remember the difference between public and private property. In any event, disconnecting a supply, which they would have to do in order to install a new meter, requires authority or a warrant. I've learnt a lot today!0 -
I really do sympathise but this does not count as a disconnection as the supply was re-established once the new meter was in place. The same would apply if a meter re-cert was carried out.0

They dont need a warrant to isolate the supply, only to break into a house. Would the person above prefer them to dig up the road and isolate there, leaving off supply for 6+ weeks?0

It is clear that you are protecting those that pay your wage and your attitude clearly explains why your employers feel that they can freely enter upon anyone's property without either authority or warrant.
The fact is that thanks to the help given by other credible members of this forum and elsewhere, my son knows exactly what he now has to do.

It sounds like your son isnt telling the truth.
i was 16 days late paying with this company 6 months ago. Even after i told them i was changing jobs, setup a new DD for my new payday and left my card details i recieved 2 letters, multiple phone calls and then a doorstep visit.
they wouldnt leave it 3 months without trying to make contact.
they chase you like a horny stalker.0
