What company is it, highly unlikely he has not had anything after not paying a bill for 3 months. It is likely he has had at least 3 letters, attempted phone calls and a couple of site visits, are you sure your son is telling you everything?0

Vestra, highly unlikely maybe, but true. Scottish & southern put the account on hold after the phone call from my son. he made the phone call upon receipt of the bill and they were told that he had lost his job, he had found another and had a delay between paydays. the account was put on hold. Cardew, no letters were issued and no calls made. there are no data entries on their computer systems other than the call made to them by my son; I asked!0

in normal situations you might be right, but obviously this is not a normal situation. in any event, normal collection procedures do not give automatic right of access and i would have thought that any responsible company would possess a standard procedure to write to confirm their intentions. i think it unfair to ask you to be involved in this, so i will get my son to apply for subject access under the data protection act. that will give us more information. Thank you so much for your input.0

It is also surprising that they would discuss your son's account - losing job etc - with yourself.
Seems like they handled this matter badly.0 -
Did they leave a calling card..?0

Cardew, thanks again. I have an authority to deal with all of my son's accounts because he is either working nights or 14 hour days. Yes, I agree that they have handled this badly and their wall of silence concerns me. I've just been reading the Rights of Entry Act 1954 which is interesting - perhaps they feel that they are exempt from this?0

Pssst, No!0

My son lives alone and has a problem with his electric company. He has a small unpaid debt ...Cardew, thanks again. Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
