I am delighted to report that yesterday was another AF day! :D

I got through my "red zone" time when I got home from work, until around 8pm, without even being tempted, which is GREAT!

It will be a difficult week this week, because I am unbelievably busy and stressed at work and I can feel some PMT coming on - which means I don't cope as well with stress while the old hormones are raging (and I do mean "raging" ha ha!). I have ALWAYS used a crappy day at work with PMT as an excuse to drink in the evenings, so I am going to try really hard not to succumb - even if I have the worst day!

Its a scary prospect - no booze crutch to lean on........a total change in how I am going to have to cope with feeling stressed. I really hope I don't muck up, but we will see. "Breathe slowly, in through the nose, out through the mouth" is a good start I suppose!

Got lots of lovely healthy food with me again today. I really enjoyed my dinner last night - HM prawn bhuna and HM pilau rice (recipes from "Curry Night" thread by Curry Queen - VERY highly recommended! Just like a takeaway, but not half as greasy or expensive!). It was nice not to just stuff my face with food after getting drunk, not tasting it, just to fill a munchie gap post boozing. It was a lovely sit down dinner, no telly on, chatting with my OH, savouring the lovely food. Very wonderful :T

Anyway, I've wittered on enough me thinks! Am feeling positive about tonight. My OH and I have decided to do a few chores around the house after dinner (HM stew tonight), then we've "booked" 1 hour's relaxation together at 9pm in front of the telly and we are going to give eachother a nice foot massage too.

    Have a great day all.

    Hugs
    Caz

  • Caz I dont know if this is helpful or not
Since cutting down and *trying* to give up my PMT has just about disappeared.

Very odd as it was definately at least a major I NEED WINE excuse and I have to say now I am arriving at the PMT stage and thinking - OK a little bit short and narked - then seeig time of month and thinking - OH wow normally I would be unbearable and in bits at this time.

The two surely have to be related as I have always suffered horrid PMT - treated with copious amounts of red wine.

No wine - almost absent PMT?

    *SORRY BOYS*

Morning again all...well done to all who abstained (!!) Wannabee free...I read somewhere that it was juice that counted as 1 a day (or commercial smoothies)?? I always liquidise skin, etc & eat after a meal so all nuturients absorbed?? My logic says that by liquidising it you're only doing what your stomach does anyway & by eating it AFTER a protein rich neal the GI count is lowered so its absorbed properly?? Will have to do more research...!

Oooh I forgot to mention.....I have a big test on Friday evening - we've been invited to a wedding reception!!!!!!!!!

As my OH is practically tee total she has always done the driving, but I've convinced her that she really deserves a cider (!) and I have offered to drive myself. I know that will be the only way I will resist boozing - particularly on a Friday after a hard day at work.

Can't say I feel excited about attending the wedding reception though - it's because I will be staying sober. It's something that I know I have to get my head around - enjoying social situations without drinking. It just seems alien to me at the moment.

I know I will have to get used to it, because I really really want to stop drinking altogether. There's no in between with me - once I start, I will not stop.

Social events have been part of my looooong list of personal justifications (excuses!) why I should be having a drink!!

Gosh, thinking about it, as I am trying and deal with my life without including booze, these reasons to drink keep coming at me.................... BAH!

I think I will write down the list of "excuses I had for drinking". I always had at least one at the ready. I bet the list ends up being HUGE!! ;)

    Hugs,

Morning all and welcome to the newbies....What a lot of new peeps.
Good luck with your giving up/cutting down journey.

Just been back to the original thread to get this quote from Springwatchgirl.

    Quote....

Well, week 5 of no alcohol and I see a different person in the mirror. My eyes no longer look dull and vacant, they actually have a little sparkle and my skin doesn't look like uncooked pastry anymore. I feel that I have won a battle but not yet the war. Hope everyone else is at the point they want to be, I never want to be that person I was, I have been tempted but I just think back to what I had become. The sun is shining at the moment and I feel good and want to continue to have the sun in my life.

This is what it feels like guys.....go for it.

Jo....Have a read back on the original thread ...you were so upbeat then....hope you can get that back soon.....good luck with the counsellor.

    Morning all:hello:

Miss P , please put me down for 9 units so far. DH and I have had a chat last night and have decided that we will not buy drink for the rest of the month. The main reason being that we really need to cut back on our spending and tighten our belts as :

    - I am working less hours during summer holidays and earning less money.
    - Tax credits have now stopped as I have been overpaid in previous year.:mad:
-3 pairs of school shoes to be bought and various other bits of school uniformto be purchased. I do try to "pass down " as much clothes as possible. However DS2 very tiny and is exactly the same size as DS3 ( who is 2 yrs younger .... everyone assumes they are twins) so not much passing down possible.

    - I still have some of my tax bill ( due 31/7) still to pay:mad::mad:

    - It is such a waste of money:rotfl:

I know this will be difficult as DH is on holiday in a couple of weeks but we can do it.:T:T.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Love
