Well yesterday was neither AF free or MSE, but a good learning experience (another ).
OH went out at midday to take toddler out - ended up wandering round waitrose buying stuff we don't need, like the £10 meal deal (which comes with bottle of wine. So we ended up drinking that and were quite tipsy by 3pm. So we decided we needed chocolate and cigarettes and vodka.
However I just ate some chocolates and pizza and had one vodka - being aware that it isn't really fair on poor DD to have 2 parents completely smashed in the afternoon. OH just got worse and worse though, then revealed his mate had given him some waccy - so went off to smoke that and proceeded to have the sicky spins all night. A little reminder that he isn't 18 anymore and a further reminder that getting out of your head isn't actually as fun as you think it's going to be.
He must have spent £50 yesterday, after we deliberated all morning about whether we could book a £400 holiday cottage next summer. He thinks we can't afford it. I think we can if we don't blow money on $hite!

Hi all,
Not had time to log on over the weekend, so tons of posts to catch up onthis morning - EEEK!!
As predicted, I was not AF on Friday night at my leaving pub/meal thingie. I drank 6 pints of lager in about 3 hours, plus scoffed a curry, so I felt tipsy, but not off my face. Didn't sleep well and I have had a constant headache varying from mild to banging, since I got up on Saturday morning. I just can't shift it, despite being AF on Saturday and yesterday.
So please add 2 more AFD to my total YM - that should bring me up to 9/27.
I notice after I have a drink nowadays, the after effects feel tons worse than they used to. That's quite possibly because I'm now more aware of how my body is feeling without alcohol and generally too. Looking back, I was living in a permanent hangover, as I hardly ever gave my body more than a few hours at a time to recover from heavy boozing and I simply tempered feeling like sh*t, by drinking to make myself feel ok again - and that cycle repeated and repeated and repeated........anyway you get the picture!!
I've decided not to see my super duper boozing friend up North this week. She's lovely, but our times together have always been based upon very heavy drinking and I know she continues to drink a lot most days, so there is no way she will stay sober if I go to see her.
I would love to see her, but it's too early in my recovery to say no and I just know we will go on a proper bender. I thought I'd better avoid a social meeting with her at the moment, so I don't slip right back into my old habits. For some reason, she's one of my weak points, as I have some cracking memories of the wonderful nights of booze and laughter we've had together. Some things are too tempting to venture into..........
Nice to be back and to "see" you all after the weekend, BTW! :A
Hugs,
Caz

YM, 12 for me please. had one glass of champagne yesterday at a "do" but just water after that so feeling ok that I managed that and also that i didnt have anything more when i got home (not that there's much choice of anything at home anymore!).
MOS, a very warm welcome. I am a newbie on here too - you will find a lot of support and inspiration and honesty on this board. Commendations to you for being so honest about your situation. Your comment about breaking into little one's savings brought back memories for me - I dont have kids but years ago in a junior job I was in charge of the petty cash tin and would often delve into that as the end of the month drew near and I had spent a large proportion of my pay on drink. It used to make me feel sick with worry that I might be found out, but couldnt stop myself but I remember that panicky/sick feeling very well. Getting paid a lot more these days but (having used the demotivator tool) realised I am spending almost £2000 a year on booze!!! And that's without the tax that I have to pay to have that money in my pocket!!
congratulations on joining this great team of people. It really helps to feel you're not struggling along alone. xxSick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Morning everyone
Sorry I disappeared :rotfl:I've got about 12 pages to catch up on
Feeling okay. Had a wonderful few days with Mr FH and the kids. Lots of quality time, playing in the park, bike rides and just generally having fun. Got unnecessarily tipsy on a meal out on Thursday and was annoyed with myself! Fell asleep really early on Friday after a few glasses of wine and was annoyed with myself. Saturday night was okay(ish) and last night I was annoyed with myself againSo basically, my days were good but I let myself down in the evenings again.
Have started the healthier eating though. No crisps or biscuits eaten. The wine is the devil though and I must have the rest of the month AF if I'm going to shift any lbs. I know that and will try harder
Much love XNeed to start again0 -
Hi all - not been on over the weekend and not been AF either (but no planned to be).
I'm on target with 7/20 AFs so far and the money saved is totting up nicely!
Hope you're all well?!Amount saved by cutting down on  since 24/08/2009....... :j£81.78:j0 -
Hi everyone,
I am building up quite an amusing picture of everyone, YM's eyes, Lurkio's hat, honeybear bobbing in the bath - and that's just from reading the weekend posts!!!
I am feeling much better today, didn't have any wine last night but only because I have only £1.93 left to last me until Friday! I can see so much of my life in other people's posts, drinking because I am sad or stressed (or usually both!), or to celebrate or be social, just ANY excuse, but none of them valid, I know. It is such a help to know others are going through the same things.
Apparently when I was drunk on Friday I invited some friends around next weekend so my plans to stay totally sober may have gone out of the window already - feeling a bit annoyed with myself cos I am already making excuses that it will be okay to have a few if I am not drinking alone - something I used to do quite a lot.
I think if I set myself a target that should keep me focussed so even though it is half way through the month could you put me on the list for 10 days up to end of Sept please YM.
I am still trying to familarise myself with everyone on this thread so please bear with me if it seems as though I am not responding to some of you, I am sure I will get there slowly.
