Hopefully I plan to walk the coast to coast next year.....just got to see how my `training` goes first!

Really? Hmmm...that's on my list of things to do, you know.

What are you aiming for? Which part of the country? (coast to coast generally means cumbria --> tyneside as I believe thats the shortest distance (but for all I know you may be a complete nutter and mean Lands End to John O groats)

    :)

  • We shall all be cheering you on your 100 day challenge (YM`s scary eyes will be on you!!)...now 100AF will be equally as challenging as cycling the coast to coast. (maybe even more so...if that`s possible!)

    Hi Angie

My Brother and SIL did the coast to coast walk last year (ending in Robins Hood bay). They said it was one of the hardest things they've ever done, but one of the most rewarding. Mind you, they got through 2 pairs of boots each and SIL had blisters on blisters which didn't go until 2 months after the walk! Both said preparation is the key. (oh and SIL got home at the end of it desperate to have a good old soak in the bath....and Piglet had hidden the bathplug!!:rotfl:)

LOL definately Lakes to East coast....my uncle did it a few years ago & although I have only done a cumulative total of 69 miles so far in practice walks (since May) I am building up stamina. Derbyshire is so good for walks so I have plenty on my doorstep to practice on....LOL I have no excuses :D:D

Somehow getting out there helps me take my mind off the bad stuff in my life.

Hi Miss P ....thanks for the tip...everyone who has done that walk says it is just an amazing experience & I am looking forward to experiencing that.

    Hello,

Finally caught up with you lot.

BHB: hope all will be well with DS
    Budgie: Wonderful poem
Sorry can't remember who: I love that Bette Midler song there was time I wasn't able ot sing it without bursting into tears, read the book, seen the film and cried lots on both occasions
    Miss P: Love the avatar
Fay: Saw VW campervan dressed for wedding and thought about you
Marylin: Thanks for the info, have googled

I find that I am in my happiest when I can fully engage into the moment instead of regretting the past and worrying about future. For example I went to Bristol Zoo last year and spent probably half an hour in the under water walk way watching seals - it was wonderful. This weekend I learned to operate locks on the canal (and I drove a narrow boat for awhile) and saw a swan to take off from the canal. Fabulous!!

Not enough bells tonight to go and buy alcohol but I know that if I had it in the house, I would drink it. Anyway it shall be no 7 for me for September as DD in bed and I aint going anywhere now. :j

Terrible headache so early to bed. Fully symphatise with not waking up refreshed (or feeling tired couple of hours after waking up). My GP thinks it is due to my depression but I am starting to think that alcohol must have messed up with my system. Or it is combination of two. Who knows?

Loving the jokes, especially the florist one :rotfl:

Well if you need a spare body when you eventually get around to doing it, bear me in mind. I've considered that walk a few times, but never found anyone else willing to do it :(

I also double as luggage / camping equipment carrier (within reason) and 6ft 3inch scary looking bodyguard (I have an impressive scowl / loom combination).

Make that two spare bodies! Ever since my brother did it I've been fascinated with the idea! Not sure on the camping though! May do what they did - pay a company to lug your suitcase to the next B&B! Mind you, that cost a pretty penny though so maybe not. As long as you don't mind bad hair days (mine, not yours!!!) I'm in!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
