Mmm thanks.I only crave bananas when I'm pregnant
I'm quite sure that can't be the reason, thankfully!:DYou must live in the same area of London as me as they're really loud in my flat!
That made me laugh.:rotfl:
I am going to be AF today. I have already crossed the day on the calender and written 11 days for August so it's final.
Thanks to Miss Piggy and to Yellow Monkey.:AHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

As soon as I get through the door from work I immediately put the kettle on and make a pot of tea! This breaks the first drink of the night habit which of course would normally lead to more. I find once I have a cup of tea or two it takes the edge of my hankering for a glass of wine.
Nice one, Mrs Dee - this is exactly the same habit that I need to cultivate so that's my plan for September@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Feb = 5/14 Mar = 14/20 Apr = 6/14 May = 2/14 June 2/14 July 0/TF Aug 1/TFv Sept 6/TF Oct 4/7"NEVER DOUBT YOUR OWN QUALITY"0 -

Cheers for all the scores, MIss P :T
And I agree, we might not be achieving it all but if we are all drinking less then that's got to be good for us & our livers & our wallets, not to mention the long-suffering OH's!

Without doubt it is a GREAT thing. Drinking less is commendable and anyone who is cutting down is to be congratulated :T:T0 -

I have only been AF since Saturday...thats 2 days. Btw I often just stop for months & months...then for no reason I just start again. I think I have found the reason why I do this.
I have been to the supermarket today & noticed that they promote alcohol everywhere....by the freezers, checkouts...at the end of the bread aisles....even by the door on the way in ! Surely this is asking for trouble...the supermarkets are not being responsible in their marketing. Alcohol is a drug...a very dangerous, addictive drug....it should be kept in one part of the store & people who want to buy it go to that part of the store specifically. It should not be used as a marketing ploy to tempt customers to buy more !!
I thought like this for a while. I realise it was the alcoholic part of me telling me it wasn't my fault I was drinking like I was, it was the supermarkets and the shops!! Sounds silly now..:D
Then I realised that no-one is forcing me to put the booze in my trolley and drink it. I kidded myself that I had no power over what I purchased in the shops, and the booze would mysteriously find its way into my trolley.
I saw all the adverts because I am alcoholic - the mental obsession with alcohol. Non-alkies don't think in this way. They can walk round the supermarket without noticing the special offers on booze.
Sure, it doesn't help people trying to cut down, but these offers can be ignored. It is better moneysaving to buy no booze than cheap booze.
Alcohol is not a dangerous and addictive drug per se.
It is dangerous and addictive in certain people (us) and that's why we should treat it with caution.
No-one can force me to pour drink down my throat. Ever.
Peer pressure, loss of job, death of a loved one, boredom, weddings, holidays, etc
Whatever the reason, I am the one who drinks the drink. I realised that if I took responsibility for my actions, then I could recover. If I blamed outside sources, then my life would permanently be out of control.
The supermarkets are not to blame for my drinking. They will not change. I have had to change to manage my alcoholism.
Good luck0 -

I completely agree. I think if they only had alcohol in one part of the shop and also not in an open part of the shop, ie a shop within a shop, then this would help. You would have to actually make an effort to go to the alcohol part of the shop and only then would you see all the offers. You would have to pay for your alcohol separately in this area and not with the rest of your shopping. This would help a lot of people.
The supermarkets wouldn't do this on their own though because they would probably sell less booze - it would have to be legislation.
I haven't been alcohol free all weekend but I haven't overdone it and I plan to be AF today.
Have a good bank holiday Monday everyone!0 -
