Miamoo, so glad to see you back  hope when the kids go back next week you can get back into a routine, I work in a school and although I'm not looking forward to going back to work on Thursday, I am looking forward to some normality and believe it or not looking forward to getting up when the alarm goes off rather than....whenever :rotfl:

RA, thanks for the book tip, I'll see if I can get it from the library first tomorrow

IM, so sorry to hear you had to cancel your day out yesterday, this happens regularly when there's drink involved, the after effects can be quite unpredictable even if you've drunk the same amount every day for years, the hangovers always seem to differ  I hope you manage to get out today instead, keep on trying :)

Caz, so pleased you had a great night with your OH the other night :)

GP, don't be down about 13 days for August, that's fairly respectable, plus you've upped the fitness regime 10-fold recently, you are on the right path. Looking foward to your 100 extreme days

BB, thanks for all your concern, just thought I'd let you know.....I've just eaten a bowl of honey nut loops for brekkie :D

Gien, it's not easy is it, look at all the bleating I did last night :D keep at it and soon it will stick :)

FH, your brisket sounded lovely, I'm almost tempted to go down to Mr T's now and get one to get in the SC for this evening  that monkey is scarier than YMs!

BHB, hope it wasn't too cold to go.....swimming....last night ;)

PIR, glad to hear your DD got back safely :) Roll on September when we can all start again and get back into the routine :D

FUAS, good idea bout stocking up on choklit, I intend to buy shedloads today (lets hope I don't eat it all in one sitting  :D) xx

Miss P, I don't mind hearing what anyone has to say, it's the support I need :A To be honest, I really don't think it would've occurred to him about the fact that where I was going to get choklit was the off licence. The shop is a tiny little shop that people go to to buy their paper or milk/bread that sort of thing, the booze is at the back and in a small fridge and as he doesn't drive it's not a shop he'd visit anyway so wouldn't know. I don't blame him for this, I didn't offer that information to him (deception is all part of the illness, something I'm trying to change), it's my fault and I realise I should be honest (thought I'd mention that before Budgie does :o).

I didn't want to confide in him last night, this might be right or wrong, it's partly because I feel humiliated that a can of liquid has control over me and partly because I want to get it out of my mind and by talking about it, means I'm thinking of it which makes it harder. I don't know if I'm doing the right thing. This is what I did when I gave up smoking, told OH that I didn't want to talk about it, didn't want to see cigerettes and when I was in the shop I'd literally turn my head away when walking past the fag counter, I'd actively cross the road if I saw I was approaching someone that was smoking cos I didn't want to see or smell it. That worked for me then and I'm taking the same approach this time. Thoughts on this would be appreciated, nice or otherwise :p:)

Fay, hope things all go okay this week, you know where I am :) xx

Angie, well done on 2 days :T I agree with you about the booze advertising in the shops, it's not just there it's everywhere! Last night I was reading a magazine and turned the page to be faced with a full glass of Carling, condensation all over the glass, it made it feel so rewarding  wanted to rip the page out :o

YM, good luck for impending September, I also have an addictive personality, smoking, drinking, ebaying :o (that's how I got into financial difficulty). I've a feeling that quite a few targets will be met next month, seems like there's lots of positivity on the thread at the moment :) enjoy your day off tomorrow :) xx

DC, congrats for abstaining :) I don't know how you can have those 2 cans in the fridge

HB, well done having self control last night :T I feel worse having NOTHING than drinking anything :D

The drinking ASBO is a great idea but I've no idea how they would police it? If I got an ASBO and was barred from pubs, clubs and places that sell drink, how can every licensee (sp?) and shopkeeper know who I was?

DM, congratulations on cutting down the alcohol, I think you have achieved so much over the past month or so just by being aware of what you are going :)

MrsDee, thanks for your input, you have given us some great tips. In fact you've reminded me that I haven't filled my water bottle with orange squash and put it in the fridge for later yet! I've just read your comment to Angie about averting her eyes, that's exactly what I'm going to do! Also an excellent tip about walking to the supermarket. I think the jogging's a bit extreme ;) but thanks very much for posting, please stick around! :) x

GC, I realise that I am the only one putting booze in my trolley (actually I don't cos I buy it at the offy cos it's cheaper ), but, if I see it, it helps to set the thoughts off, out of sight is out of mind for the time being, bad enough dealing with the normal triggers and cravings when I can't see it!

HB/40SM, I thought I'd check out the Urban Dictionary on 'swithering', and wasn't very pleased about the definition, it says: "I'm swithering whether to have a pint or a vodka and redbull"   I'm trying to avoid alcohol :rotfl:

BB, the supermarkets should sell alcohol like in the arcades where the over 18's have a seperate place to gamble on the proper machines :rotfl: enjoy your day too :) x

Wow, it must've taken me about an hour to type that! I wanted to catch up properly as yesterday I could only access the thread from my phone so one liners only :)

Feeling like carp today, but not hungover. It's ironic as DD1 went out last night, curfew was 11.30pm, OH told me this morning that she came in at 1.30am and went straight to bed. She got up about an hour ago asking if I had tablets cos she wasn't feeling very well, then found her in the loo being sick, she said she thinks she had a hangover. She's only 17 and hasn't really drunk much before, she said she had 3 glasses of wine, as she was at her boyf's families BBQ I'm presuming they were not pub measures, so each glass must've been at least 1.5 units, you think? Considering her age and the fact that she hasn't really drunk before, it's going to affect her. I reckon she had more than 3 glasses as she's still being sick. I'm hoping this will put her off.....probably won't though

What do I say to her to stop her getting on the slippery slope without sounding like a killjoy?

Right, coffee is now cold so going to make a new one. Lots of cleaning planned today, then taking the kids somewhere with OH maybe for lunch or dinner, then an AF evening of books, magazines and choklit :D

    xx

My god, Jo has turned into Tolstoy & posted War & Peace! :D

I'm glad you got through last night tho, Jo, by whatever means necessary :T If it works for you then stick with it :)

Sorry about the Urban Dictionary thing (:o). If it helps I got the word from this book:

"Easy Ways To Make A Living" by Abigal Bosanko

It was a freebie with Marie Claire a few years back. It's a nice romantic read so I'd recommend it if that's your cup of tea :)

could you count me in? I have a few "high risk" events coming up in September and would appreciate the support... It's great to be part of the gang.
By the way since not drinking my house is SPOTLESS and all ironing done and all those annoying little jobs are being crossed off the list - you know, those things like, oh I must get a tidy thing for carrier bags and I must write to so-and-so... My other downfall used to be... coming in from a night out (slaughtered) and then having more at home! Aaarrggghhhh. Nightmare!!!!

Of course I can add you. Would you like to be put down for 30?
