  • YM - Haha. I've had plenty of practice, been brought up on curries and chillis etc. I find the burn really addictive, how silly does that sound?! My stomach does suffer the day after but it's definately worth it!

  • Tangochick~sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your children X

Well, I'm in a bit of a slump. That's the only word I can think of. On the outside I look as happy as I normally do. But I'm in a bit of turmoil inside. I'm not sure where I am going wrong. Well I do, I've been hitting the wine, but you know what I mean.

I had a drink all 4 days I was off. Was hungover on Friday  Terrible, terrible state of affairs! There is still a little bit of wine left in the house and I'm already trying to talk myself out of buying more on the way home. I need Mr FH home so he can be a witnes to how much I am drinking. At least it is made more difficult for me when he is at home.

Strange thing is that last night I enjoyed myself. All on my own I watched something on Sky+, watched Big Brother then laughed all the way through Alan Carr. Went to bed without a care in the world. Then woke at 6am this morning and though "oh God I did it again!"

    Much love X
    Need to start again :o

I'm with you too Fay!!! Those bells have been clanging a lot lately and its more luck than judgement that I'm managed to stay AF!

Come on everyone, lets see if we can all do it tonight. Can't put me PJ's on at 5pm like Fay (people at work will look at me a bit odd!!:rotfl:) but I'm certainly going to be keeping myself busy to try and keep my mind off it. (you know, I'm even considering joining in on the Flylady thread - how mad is THAT!?!)

  • Hi All

Tangochick, thank you for your courage.

My wheels wobbled this weekend, and after 9 AF days, I did wine on Saturday AND Sunday. I am ok with the Saturday, but I am cross about yesterday. Grrr. No excuses. So Fay, I am deffo AF tonight and the rest of the week, although we go on holiday on Friday for a week, and it is also DH's birthday while we are away, so I sense that there may be some wobbling, but I just hope it is minimal.

We did have a good weekend though - DS1 is feeling better, although still getting a temperature at the end of the day, and, poor chap, terribly sweaty in the night, although not hot. I am having to change his PJs when I go to bed. It was DS2's birthday yesterday, which was great, and he was very excited and giddy.

I have been really interested to read about the hobby bit and how much more focus is given to other things when AF. I am a big reader, and also love gardening. Both are my escapes. (Fay, I am a huge amateur on the gardening front, but if you are a pro, I may come to you for advice if that is ok?)

I hope you are all ok. 40SM, are you having the holiday torments? I just can't get DS1 and DS2 to stop tearing chunks out of each other, either verbally or physically - it is wearing.

Cazza, I think you are doing amazingly well, and please please have pride in your achievement. Don't worry about over socialising. Perhaps you need to get to know yourself sober before pushing out socially and introducing the new you to people. You are clearly someone with integrity and depth, and that will come to the fore again.

Thank you all for your continued support - you are all amazing.

    (((())))) to all

  • Foreverhopeful, try not to feel too bad about having a drink last night. The thing is to focus on is NOT drinking today. Yesterday has happened and you can't change that, but you can do things differently today.

Think how great you will feel tomorrow, if you don't drink today :D:D

I empathise with how you felt last night when you were drinking on your own and enjoying the telly. I've been there many times and it was fun - I loved doing it!

I got excited about being in the house on my own, so I could drink what I wanted and watch the telly. If my OH was away, I would go to Blockbusters and hire out a whole comedy series, like "Black Books" or "Spaced" for example, or a couple of films, buy myself loads of booze and snacky crisps and nuts etc. and and shut myself in the house, to have 4 - 6 hours of just me, booze and great telly.

It was always very enjoyable and if I am honest, reading your post about last night, I had a real pang about how I used to enjoy it too.

That's one of the many reasons why it's hard to resist having a drink. It's good that you posted about wanting a drink tonight and that you are wrestling with yourself. It's a daily struggle for me and lots of us on here.

I hope you can find strength and positivity in staying sober today.

Sending you all my good wishes and thoughts.

    Hugs,
    Caz

P.S. I won't put my joo-joos on at 5pm though - I have an AA meeting tonight and attending in my (rather fetching) nightwear might prompt a mass exodus!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Thanks guys (((hugs)))

I can do this. I've done it before. It's just when I think about tonight I get a knot of anxiety in my chest. But I know if I do it, I'll be absolutely fine

I'm so tired, I really need to give myself a break from all of this.
