Hi, I also made a complaint to Egg (not FO) re misselling of PPI. Even though it was five years ago, I can clearly recall the customer services lady saying 'you really should take PPI with your loan, it may not be processed and approved should you decide you do not wish to take out this type of insurnace and it is for your own protection'!

Anyway, they came back to me and basically said we don't think it was missold - however we will remove it.

    Then I received this message:

After looking at your Loan I can confirm that the Egg Loan Repayment Protection was removed on 25 February 2008.

Your maturity date was changed as result of the removal.

The maturity date was 27 December 2009 before the removal, it's now 27 November 2009.

This information is available for you to view on the website.

I can have a copy of your Egg Loan statement sent out to you if you like, this will also confirm that it has been removed from your loan.

I look forward to your response.

??? does that just mean we have removed it but we're not entertaining the idea of misselling?

    Hi there

    This was clearly mis sold.
Even if they have removed it you have obviously been paying into it, and they should refund you all you have paid in PPI and the interest etc.

I would be inclined to write back and ask them what about the PPI you have already paid, as you believe with your reasons this was mis sold to you and want a full refund of what have been paid, plus the interest etc.

I know what you mean though, by them removing this, then what now?
Basically your repayments should be lower than usual, and they should refund you.;)

  • Hi there just an update especially for all those who are dealing with Egg. Long story short, FOS found in my favour, Egg totally ignored them (this is after Egg had already paid out for on a different PPi policy). The case went before the Ombudsman himself to decide and he decided in my favour and I was told that by law they now had to respond. They didn't. FOS sent me an agreement form to sign and send back, this was at the end of June. I was told that Egg had 4 weeks to respond. After 4 weeks I contacted Fos who said that in all they give Egg 90 days in all to make payment. Hang on, up until the 1st Fos decision it had taken approx 18months. Egg ignore FOS and the big boss makes a decision and gives them another 3 months to make payment. Can anyone explain how that is fair or reasonable to the consumer? It just seems to me that for what ever reason FOS are pandering to the money industry. If it has been found that they have misold then tell them to pay up immediately or face penalties. init? Rant over.

This is so wrong doingmybest. I think you need to contact the FSA. Egg obviously continue to be defiant and get away with it. They need another fine and bigger.

Bad news - just checked my loan account - EGG have reversed payment previously made to me in July 2009 after successful FOS claim. They have added the PPI back on to my loan and adjusted my monthly payments back up to what they were previously when I had PPI. They have also extended my loan term to take into account of cash paid to me and interest. What are they doing to me? Any ideas? Please help - I am being driven crazy by them.:mad::mad::mad:
Sounds like they've treated your rebate as a further loan!! Totally out of order but nothing really surprises me any more! I'm still battling to get my cash off them after them applying entire £4800 rebate against my loan but chances are even if I succeed they'll do the same thing to me! I've written to FSA and Trading Standards about their general attitute and policies and think everyone being treated this way should do the same - it's only the landslide approach that ever seems to get anywhere!! Go back to FOS Jagger coz this is WRONG WRONG WRONG!

Don't anyone know if there's a timescale within which the bank have to make a payment once an agreement has been signed and returned?
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

A post further up says the FOS give 90 days. But id expect it between 4 and 6 weeks.

I have finally , after 19 months of trying !!!! got my PPI refund from EGG !!!!!
It is all thanks to Martin and this forum who have guided and encouraged me through everything.
I had to go to the FOS and then the Ombudsman as EGG refused to pay up.
I have had to deal with curt and unhelpful EGG staff and it would have been SO easy to just have given up, but I didnt.
I received my cheque for £3158.65 last week - YIPPEEEEE !! and I must say the last couple of EGG staff were brilliant.
So thanks to Martin and thanks to this site - DONT GIVE UP PEOPLE !!!!
