  • Can anyone recommend a somewhere to take my OH for a nice meal. I do enjoy the Golden Coral and Ponderosa. But I wish to treat my lady on our next visit. Is there anything at Pointe Orlando?

We are staying at Caribbean beach in Disney and I am hiring a car.
  • Olive Garden is a very nice Italian.

Have been to the parks this week so a quick report back. Anyone with children interested in Frozen (or interested adults for that matter)...

The princess meet and greet has moved from Norway pavilion at Epcot to Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom.
The Magic Kingdom parade float featuring Anna and Elsa has been modified since it debuted, they are now on a rotating platform so you can see from both sides of the route.
Voices of Liberty at the American Pavilion have introduced Let it Go to their set. Not every performance. Worth asking if in the area. It's also on YouTube (sorry, can't get a link at mo due to device incompatibility).
The main events though are over at Studios.
Frozen Summer Fun includes a skating rink with shows, snowman building with real snow and special fireworks as well as Anna and Elsa's special welcome at 11am. This event has already been extended at least once due to popularity, but some features such as fireworks are due to finish this week, so worth checking statistic interested. There are also two Frozen merchandise stores at Studios.

Most people are aware that Seven Dwarves Mine Train is the latest attraction at the Magic Kingdom. 70 to 90 minute waits the norm this week, v popular as a Fast Pass option.

Finally a lot of the entertainment acts at World Showcase (Epcot) are ending their contracts, often after a very long time. Off Kilter (the Canadians with bagpipes and rock music), World Showcase Players (UK) and Mo'Rockin all due to finish end of this month.

It's also worth catching the film's again as the prints have been cleaned up and they are much brighter. Am thinking of Impressions De France (Epcot) and Muppets 3D (Studios) in particular.

    That's about everything I think.

Hi Its my 30th birthday next july and I am thinking of florida in june/july time for this, I am seeing if anyone else has done this and can recomend good things to do there, I was thinking of 14 ngihts and getting a 7 day pass for the theme parks and spread them out doing a day of them then day off etc, I was also thinking of new york but if there is shops in florida we can do too?, also I was thinking of a visit to miami beach? is there any decent cheap hotels not far from orland which you can walk, dont mind a 30 minute ish walk as like walking. I have been told about thw jetsave and how they are a few hundred cheaper than other companys on your holiday and they say there is free car hire with jetsave? most hotels seem to be room only so id there diners etc close to everything and that is cheapish? how much money would you possibly need to take for a 2 week holiday if you purchaced the 7 day theme park pass beforehand so thats not included? has anyone been for the 30th and recoment a nice selection of things to do that they have done and can fill the 2 weeks there? has anyone gone from Orlando to Miami or is there a nice closer beach?

Also just myself who will be 30 and my partner who will be 28,no kids.
    thanks:rotfl:

Orlando to Miami is about 230 miles each way, so while it's possible as a day trip it would be better with at least one night in the Miami area. The drive isn't very interesting, except of course for a first time visitor any drive in the USA is interesting.

There's a lot of motels along US192 near the main entrance, but they're not within walking distance. Some of those might run shuttles to Disney and the perhaps the other theme parks but you'd need to check. The other main motel area is International Drive and I've seen it said here that you can get transport from there to Disney and presumably also the other theme parks.
most hotels seem to be room only so id there diners etc close to everything and that is cheapish?
As well as various dining options in the parks, both US192 and International Drive have numerous restaurants at all price levels, fast food to fine dining.
is there a nice closer beach?
There are beaches along both coasts much closer than Miami Beach but I don't know how they compare.

Google Maps, motels on US192 (every red dot, not just the big pointers):
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=motels&hl=en&ll=28.337815,-81.582584&spn=0.030671,0.056734&sll=28.333811,-81.578507&sspn=0.030672,0.056734&t=m&radius=2.07&hq=motels&z=15

and restaurants in the same area:
    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=restaurants&hl=en&sll=28.337815,-81.582584&sspn=0.030671,0.056734&oq=rest&hq=restaurants&t=m&z=15

You might like to go into StreetView mode in Google Maps to have a look round, both US192 and International Drive, to see how widely spaced out everything is.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Is there any word on them being replaced.
