Hello, I don't think I've ever posted on this thread but have been reading it for several months now. I'm wondering if anyone who has been in the last year would be willing to tell me how much your holiday (or even an aspect of it) cost? You might be able to tell from my sig that I'm trying to save £8000 for a Disney/Florida hol (in 2016). I based this on being the most I should need for the whole trip no matter what we want to do and I think it should be enough. But what I'm wondering is if we might be able to do it for less and maybe I'd have enough money left to extend my stay and visit my brother in another part of the US as part of the same trip.

So any comments at all about what it cost you would be really appreciated

BTW - I'm talking a family of 4 (Kids will still be 10 and under), for two weeks in Florida, probably staying in a villa/house, renting a car and visiting all of the disney parks, kennedy space center, discovery cove & I'm not sure what else.
    1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
    MFW 2013 no. 62 £10,000/£10,000
    MFW 2014 no 62 £8000/£7000

Hi liz paul, we're heading there in 40 days. A quick break down of costs for us 2 adults/ 2 kids aged 12 and 9 for 3 weeks.

    flights indirect 2000
    villa 1600
    car hire 400
    disney 21 day tickets 1200
    universal 14 day tickets 4-500
    dc, seaworld, busch gardens 980
    legoland 14 day tickets free
    spends 4000

I think we may have gone a little over board with the amount we're doing but we don't plan to go back for a long time. Also spends are a little on the high side but I'd rather go over with plenty and bring some home, than go over and have to budget.

    Hope this helps

    We were:
Flights: £2000 for 2 adults (kids under 2 so were approx £150 each)
4 bedroom Villa with pool for 11 nights: £1000
Car hire: £450 for seven seater as in-laws are coming(using caronthedrive - they pick you up from the airport and drive you to your villa, where your hire car is waiting)

In total it has cost approx £3750 for accommodation, villa and car/transfer but this is in the middle of summer and during the most expensive time of year.

The Disney packages cost anything from £65 for a day up to £300 for 21 days per person

Is it possible to get the water park & more tickets with a 2 day pass? If so we will probably do that, if not we will maybe go to Wet n Wild for a day instead, which is the best water park for young kids? (2 year old)[/QUOTE]

I prefered Aquatica to Wet N Wild we spent the extra and hired a gazebo for the day so we had a place to snooze a little in the afternoon and a drinks fridge.

Thanks for the info, the gazebo sounds good - could then spend the whole day there and have naps etc when required.
I see Blizzard Beach do them but $320 is a bit steep. How much was Aquatica?
Wet n Wild do them for $150 which is much more reasonable

Thanks for the reply, we are staying in a villa in Kissimmee, 8 miles from the Magic Kingdom car park
We are not expecting to see or do much, and will return when our kids are older.

We stayed in Kissimmee too, decent location for everything we needed. We got the 2 day pass and a water park ticket separate. We went to Typhoon Lagoon and our 3 yr old enjoyed playing in the childrens area almost the whole time we were there (would have chosen the seating area right next to it if we had known), that would be ideal for your 2 year old.

    Hi guys,

I'm finding it very difficult to digest the sheer amount of info on this thread so I'd like to ask a couple of questions in relation to going to Orlando in the April half term 2015.

Firstly, I appreciate that this is the second busiest time of the year so first question... is it a lot more expensive to go in July/August 2015?

Second... I see lots of people saying to do things DIY. As an example, I've looked on Thomson where I can do the All-In-One Package Seaworld 4T for 2 weeks room only with car hire for £5300... how would a DIY package compare?

With regards DIY packages, I have seen people recommend the dibb.... I simply can't navigate the site very easily! I tried to look for a villa for my family (me, the wife and 10 year old) but it said none were available! I must've done something wrong.

Anyway, can someone point out a few simple search sites where people look for flights and accommodation? I've seen a few sites recommended for tickets so I'll leave that until I find out how much the basic stuff wil cost.

    thanks in advance

    Here's one approach for accommodation:

    Go to maps.google.com
Then within Google maps search for
    villa near kissimmee florida
    or
    motel near celebration florida
    etc as desired

The locations of matches will be shown on the map, and contact details, review scores etc will be displayed in the lefthand panel. If there are a lot of matches then there are links to successive pages of details near the bottom of the lefthand panel.

In most cases you can zoom in to StreetView mode to view a property and the surrounding area.

If you don't intend to hire a car, check that there's some method of transport from your accommodation to the parks.

For villas I recommend https://www.floridabeesuk.com and charter travel for flights and car hire. We use undercover tourist for park tickets.
