You were still searching when we 'chatted' about Christmas flights back in January.
Did you get the dates you wanted?
Dates - not quite (hence Xmas Day flight), but I had to find sub £500 flights to be able to afford it for the four of us. We're only going for 12 nights rather than the 14 we wanted, but on balance I'm reasonably OK with this (given the price!)
Thanks for asking0 -

I'm glad you found flights you're happy with.

I looked thru this thread and found a wee bit from 2011,
can anyone give me an update, are they worth the money?
I got one when I went in 2011 and just about made it worthwhile but didn't use it nearly as much as I hoped I would as most restaurants/shops we ended up going to didn't take the card!Didn't bother last year as we were mainly staying at Disney and the few restaurants in the area that took the card didn't appeal to us. It's worth it if you can say for sure that you plan on visiting several restaurants anyway and you know that you'll be visiting the shops and attractions with or without the card.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Hello,
I am looking for some advice. Myself, my mother and younger brother were looking at possibly visiting Disneyland Paris in December this year and a 2 week holiday in Tenerife next August. In total, this would cost us approximately £2800. Disneyworld is something we have never considered, however, it has just crossed my mind. I was just wondering if anybody was aware as to whether we would get a 2 week trip there for anywhere near the price of Disneyland Paris + Tenerife stated above? I am absolutely clueless as to how much Disneyworld would cost and no idea where to look. We would be looking at going during August 2014 (school holidays), my brother would be 14 so might be an adult price. I would have no idea what parks we would want to visit, obviously the Disney, Animal Kingdom, Seaworld, Universal etc. I have heard Busch Gardens is mainly larger rollercoasters etc, which we are not really into. Also, none of us are able to drive so we would need to stay near or in a hotel that offers transfers. If anybody can offer any useful advice or guidance it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very very much0 -

I think possibly not, for August summer holidays. £2800 is £933 each.
To break it down a bit:
Indirect flight - if you are very lucky and search every day - you could get them for £500. No guarantee but you can normally pick one up if you are prepared to search.
Hotel - per night - cheapie - £20 ish each (perhaps less), so multiplied by 14 = £280
Already that only leaves you £253 for park tickets (which won't be enough to do all the ones you've listed)
There are other costs too, transfers, getting to UK airport, getting to parks. I'm assuming your budgetdidn't include spending money too?
Could you up the budget a little? It would be much more fun than Tenerife
There are loads of money saving ideas for when youre out there, but honestly don't think you can do it on what you have there.0 -

It is probably out of our budget for next year!We managed to find a hotel for 2 weeks at £478 total for the 3 of us on International Drive. I am clueless as to where to search for flights etc, anywhere I have searched have nothing for next August yet, do you know where I could look?
What prices would we be looking at for the park tickets? I have tried to do some research but overwhelmed with all of the information. Maybe the budget could be a little higher, I would have to speak with my mother but if it is completely out of our budget then we will stick with our original trips and hopefully save up to go another year!0 -

We got flights for this August for £430 each, indirect, with Delta. We found those prices on 'Kayak' website - we looked every day. Also, join 'theDibb' forum - if there is a great flight offer, someone on there will probably spot it first and tell everyone else!
As for tickets, subscribe to the mousesavers.com newsletter. On the newsletter itself, there is usually a link to 'undercovertourist' website - they are a good, reliable ticket seller and they often have good reductions. Or try Floridatix.
If you do your homework you can get some good deals. We are going for 3 and a bit weeks, in August. Our flights were £430. Our hotels (we are doing multi centre) were about £1700 (we are staying in 'nice' hotels - not budget ones) - you can get hotels a lot cheaper than that. The car hire we got on a 40% off sale (and cashback too!) with Hertz - that was £320 for 22 days including top insurance and all taxes etc. The UK airport parking was free (got it free on a 'if you find it less then you get it free' deal - from Monarch). Our Legoland tickets we got free with our Tesco clubcard points. Just need to pay for Disney tickets and food (most of our breakfasts are included too - we usually have loads at breakfast, then just a snack at lunch).
Good Luck!0 -

Thanks very much!I have looked at Floridatix and the Ultimate Florida ticket is £505 each, including every attraction 14 day visits so that would be the best option for us I think. So, so far, it's coming it at just under £2000 for the attraction tickets plus hotel stay. I am not sure how to search for indirect flights but from what I can see, flights for next August are yet to be released. How much money would we be looking at needing while there? We aren't big spenders, it would literally just be for our food for the fortnight.

Break down the parks into how many you would really, really like to do, and work backwards from there. Personally, I could not justify spending £500 on tickets alone for a two week holiday (that's more than half your budget gone already!) and you won't get good "value" from them.
Indirect flights (and direct ones, unless you want a fly drive) aren't yet released for next August - its 11 months before.
Food wise, you can spend as much or as little as you want, really. We've done it on $100 a day before (2 adults and 2 kids) but that was pretty tight. There are a lot of ways to reduce costs, signing up for vouchers on websites etc. free breakfast with your hotel (if you can get it, but do balance that against the cost of transport options to the parks) could help - we normally just have cereal in the room.0 -

We're off in July for 2 weeks (2 adults and 2 kids - 13 and 15) we got our park tickets from Florida Escapes. 14 Day Disney Ultimate ticket is £252 each and 14 day Universal 2 park ticket is £102 each. We're giving Seaworld a miss this year as done it a lot previously but would recommend it if you've not been before. Doing every park in 2 weeks is very tiring, (August is unbelievably hot and humid, plus you get downpours most days which affect some of the rides if there's a storm) you could cut costs by deciding which parks are a must for you and just buying those.0
