  • Its been my dream to go to florida since I was a child, But I come from a family who had very little money and could not even afford and weekend break in wales.
so I want what I could never give my kids and my wife has suggested Florida next year knowing its my dream and the kids will love it (5&7)

but for a family of 4 the price is shocking... Im going to need about 5k
to go away in oct 2013 I need to be putting £250 a side every month

dont get me wrong my job is well paid 20k+ and my wife works part time so we have a avg income of about 30k+

But im really struggling to see any way I could afford this holiday....

so before I break my back getting the money together... what are people experience's
is it all that i hoped and is it worth that much money, I would like to buy a house so its a large chunk of a deposit

You will get advice from https://www.thedibb.co.uk.

Yes it is a dream holiday but if you're saving for a house???

I've just returned from my 3rd visit at Easter and its not a cheap hliday even if you try to do it on a budget.

In my opinion whilst I love Florida I wouldn't choose it over a house, after all its 2 weeks in the sun having fun as opposed to your home and future.

Holidays can be wonderful and even better when you've not broke the bank to do it. Why not wait until its more affordable for you, your kids are young with plenty of time to do it.

Agreed. I think your kids are too young if it is going to be a one-off holiday of a lifetime. I'm going for the first time in May because my parents couldn't afford it when I was young, but I'm 45 and have paid off my mortgage. Obviously 45 is not the ideal age, but I think you should concentrate on buying a house rather than spending £5k on a 2 week holiday. Once you have bought your house and your kids are in their teens you should consider it again, but it's not the end of the world if you can't go. In the meantime, take your kids to Disneyland Paris once you have bought your house.
  • Hi everyone, So we have decided we are going to stay onsite at the beach club, still not sure about a room or a 1 bed villa, has anyone stayed here?

We still cant make our minds up about the hire car, are there taxis in the resort how easy are they to find and what are the prices like?

    Thanks
    Sam

Have just subscribed to this thread - my mum has voiced the idea of us going on holiday to Florida with her next year (3 adults, 3 children) She came on holiday with us for a week earlier this month which went well so I know we won't drive each other nuts :D

I have said we will take a couple of months to research it and start saving before making the final decision as it's a lot of money, so am now looking into prices and things to get an idea

Don't know how much of the 200+ pages of this thread I will get through but I shall start with the links on page one :rotfl:

Try using this website, they seem to be a popular choice for taxis in Orlando and it'll give you idea for prices too

what is the dibb? I've heard this mentioned previously.

I'm looking to go June 2013, family of 5. The cheapest deal I've found so far is from Travel City Direct at just below the 5 grand mark. Staying for 3 weeks in a villa. Is this a good price? Are they a good company to go with? Would greatly appreciate any advice or tips.

    Thanks:j

Try these sites, I agree the DIBB but find a few others really useful.

Best, or cheapest, is to take a Disney bus to DTD then pick up a taxi there.

Better with The Dibb or The Dis boards for real advice and best ticket prices for the UK rather than a US site who can't sell the 7/14/21 UK tickets.
