were not having a car in florida as OH is a lorry driver, and if he drives on holiday its no holiday for him. We have 2000 dollars but our eldest daughter has saved 1000 for herself as shes 18, and our other daughter is 13 and has saved 115 for herself, but its her birthday while we are on holiday. I think someone mentioned that if you visit MK on your birthday you get a giftcard but not too sure.

Were flying with thomas cook, has anyone used them for florida???

only 3 more days but sooooo much to do!!!

I cannae wait to go over next June. Have been over 2006 and I easily go back to Child-Mode :rotfl:, though I am now 35 already.

Before we go 10 days to Orlando, we stop in New York though for 5 days sightseeing :D

    Lovely 2 weeks that'll be :T

Here's another question (no one answered my t'other asking what the VRoom's like, sniff).

When we're in the US, we love to go to the various supermarkets there. One of our friends mentioned Sam's Club and I was wondering if it's possible to get a membership being from Blighty? I know that you're able to get a day's pass, but I mean a full year's membership!

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Dont know whether this is the right thread, but we are planning to go to Orlando next July for 2 weeks, - mum, dad, daughter (21), son (19) - is it best to book a villa or hotel? We are trying to keep costs to a minimum. We want to do Seaworld - to swim with dolphins, not tooo bothered about other theme parks, but what do experts suggest?
    Thanks in advane

Hi yvonne, I guess really you want to tihnk about what you want to get out of the holiday.

We are going for a week soon ( I have been as a child) and we are going to go to all the parks pretty much all we can squeeze in we will .( not discovery cove tho) also want to experience the nightlife ( we caqn always find something someewhere!) and a bit of shopping. We need a base only, as there is so much to do & we are only going for 7 days, so we wanted to be in the middle of the action walking distance to resturaunts etc, so we have chosen international drive- things like noise, busyness dont bother us, but some people want seclusion/ privacy/ relaxation out of thier holidays. Depends waht you want. Also I have no desire - and we can afford at the mo- not to have to cook for ourselves at all, the motel does a basic continental break, and we will eat out the rest of the time. We are paying 16 quid a night for the room inc tax and it gets relitavely good reviews on trip advisor.

When we went as teenagers parent took us to parks in the 1st week ( there were not as many then!) and then went to key west & the everglades one time, and another time had a villa week in Marco Island and drove out for trips eg St petes etc.

If we had longer we would probably drive to the coast to pensacola or possible the other way to St Augustine- looks fab

    hiya me again

    Wondering if anyone can help.

We dont have a credit card and need a weeks basic car hire from sanford. We priced this as 97 quid on netflights- about what we want to spend, certainly not a LOT more. its with thrifty , sanford airport.

on the thrifty.com website they sdaid they will take a debit card but the car needs to be prebooked ( OK) can only have one driver ( not keen on this bit) and needs 250 USD on the debit card ot freeze ( not a problem)

Ok we cant book our car hire with netflights, as thier contract between themselves & thrifty says that the renters will provide credit card.

HAS ANYONE ELSE TAKEN THE RISK and it been ok with thrifty paying by debit at the airport?

    OR

Has anyone got any other ideas who i can book a car with through thrifty who will take the debit card?

The prepaid credit card seems to be getting really mixed opinions from people ive spoken to about its acceptance.

    HELP!!!!

Mh, I guess you firstly need a car and def need to plan your trips, although I would like to mention that you miss the best part of Orlando if you dont go to the major parks ie Disney World, U-Studios and Islands of Adventure. With the right ticket, the money is very well worth it.

I personally would go for a hotel and try to grab as many vouchers as you can. You can save some money there, but you will always find good meals for $10 per person all you can eat...

Yvonne - you swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove not Seaworld. DC is a sister park of Seaworld. The DC ticket includes access to Seaworld and you can upgrade this to include Busch Gardens and Aquatica.

Personally I would book a Villa. We paid £350 per week for our 4 bed villa with pool for the last 2 weeks. PM me if you want the info. The owner charges the same amount every week of the year.
