Orlando/Disneyworld Thread (Part 3)

I know it's not the same as a villa meer but look into a one bed apartment with free dining next time, especially if you like the Disney thing too. It pretty much pays for itself at OKW and SSR.
I know if we had a big villa joe muggins would end up running round tidying it up all the time and an apartment is enough mess for me. I don't even unpack though and live out of cases (that would mean time packing then, LOL). I even have a pocket tioletries bag that zips open, unfolds, hangs on the door and all the toiletries get hung in there, zip it up and away we go. My friends think i am mad, I never unpack where ever we go.
It's like living in a different world for a few weeks.
I am sorry that your marriage did not work out but it sounds like you are having a great time now and that is the main thing. His loss at the end of the day!!0 -

There's always 4 of us so we need more than 1 bedroom which is why we opt for the villas. We unpack everything as i can't stand mess so i'm quite happy to do the tidying up, the kids are quite helpful too, the bribe of "no pool till you've made your beds" usually works ! We also love cooking in the evenings if we're not out at the parks or having a huge late breakfast and going out at lunchtime some days. With the kids being able to be in the pool whilst we're in the villa doing other stuff is a bonus. We wash and iron too ! Strange i know but i can come home with minimal washing.
I was sad too when my marriage ended but you're right, i'm happier now than i ever was, we're good friends now. If we hadn't split i would never have been to Florida, he would never go. Big Bonus !:rotfl:0 -
Just wondering for those that have been to Orlando and Paris Disney. How much difference is there. I have just looked on Google Earth and it looks so simiar to me, which is making me think I perhaps dont need a full 2 week pass as I know 3 days at Paris was enough. I have been to the Paris one about 5 times.
Obviously we will go to Universal studios too but if it is going to be too similar to Paris will rather spend my money elsewhere. We have 2 kids who will be 7 and 5 when we go.0 -
Its a much larger scale in Florida nothing like Disney Paris

The Magic Kingdom is similar at DLP and WDW but there are differences, and to a lesser extend the Hollywood Studios at WDW and the film one at DLP (cant remember the name, sorry).
Epcot and Animal Kingdom have no similarity to anything at DLP.
The waterparks, nothing at DLP to compare.
With children the age yours are, I'd suggest it was a massive shame to miss Magic Kingdom, but there is a lot of refurb going on there ar the moment in Fantasyland, which is the area aimed at younger kids, so if you're going in the next 15 months or so that would be a downer!
Paris and Walt Disney World may share some rides, but that's where the similarities end.0 -

They are 2 different parks really, different shops, disfferent castle, different rides. I reckon there are double the number of rides in Florida than there are in DLP and the rides are different and have different height restrictions too. There are more childrens rides, more character meals, more experiences and of course, fireworks every night in Florida.
Hollywood Studios is MGM at DLP but there is more to do in Florida, more to see and more for the children to do although again, some things are the same.
Animal Kingdom again, a fair amount for the kids to do but there were some things the 6yo could not get onto.
A lot of the rides are 48" height so if you are going once I would wait for your youngest to be this height, DD was 8 and was 48".
There are also the water parks - to get in for the day you'll be looking at $180.
There are lots more shows in Florida than in DLP so this takes an hour or more of your day, queing, getting seated and seeing the show.
I was talking about this to my friend the other day and it works out at around £15 a day for the ticket - you could not even get into the zoo for that in the UK let alone go on rides all day.
We have been 4 times and there are some things that we did not see and have still not seen so we are going back again.0 -
Thanks all for your replies, we are going in December. My 5 yr luckily doesnt like fast rides and my 7 year old is really tall so hopefully we will be OK. It is scary spending so much money, we normally go to Cape Town for a month and this is going to cost so much more but we are going and I am sure we will have a great time.
My son is desperate to go to Kennedy Space Centre. I am thinking of booking the most expensive thing to get the most of it and eat lunch there with an astronaut.0 -

I'd recommend the 'Up Close' tour, it takes you to parts of the Space Centre you don't get to see otherwise and takes you right up to some others you might only see from a distance otherwise, eg the VAB, launch pads and landing strip amongst others2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

You can sign up now for restaurants that you might visit. I'd suggest you make your birthday date during your trip, as many tend to mail you a birthday voucher for something.
Most restaurants have vouchers / coupons in the lobby, too
Other than that, search back to when you last posted and see if the post you remember is nearby?
