Wow have been reading all the posts and it seems you NEED a car to get around, well that for me is not good news.My son is 10 in june 2012 and we have promised him a trip to disney, dont mind about NOT going shopping as i will have a 10 year old with adhd and a 5 year old.I do drive but could not cope over there (i refuse to drive in the city here)can anybody recommend a hotel with bus service to the park or a villa within walking distance or where a shuttle run exists.
Anybody had any luck with cheap flights?

Hi spoonk. I can't recommend any hotels with shuttle services - maybe someone else can. I know when we were looking to plan this trip we were thinking of staying in a hotel and I noticed a lot more of them were offering shuttles. Just wanted to reply and say that nowhere is within walking distances. The distance between each theme park is pretty big. We have always hired a car to get around but we have friends who visit regularly and don't drive over there. They find it easy to get around on the trolley buses.

Just to agree with VALM, everything is spread out.

I have to say that many people visit Orlando and do the parks with no cars, so it is perfectly possible, but as you are obviously trying to do, it's important to choose your hotel wisely.

I can't advise on this as we tend to stay onsite at Disney and would have a car if staying offsite but it is perfectly possible to do it without a car, so don't listen to any naysayers who tell you otherwise :)

    Hi there,

We will be arriving in Florida on 2nd of July and are looking for top tips on what to do on the 4th of July.
I am assuming that all the parks will be busy over this weekend especially on the 4th and might be best avoided?
I would appreciate any advice on what to do or any special events that would be worth braving the crowds for.
There are 3 of us altogether - 2 adults and 1 child - age 10, and we are staying on International Drive.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi spoonk, my son has ADHD and we have never driven over there, we get shuttles, walk, the monorail and use buses/the iride.

Because we are somewhere new it is adventure and my DS loves it, over here he canot tolerate public transport but over there it is all air conditioned and (not including Disney) is not usually that busy. I never give him his meds while we are there because there is no need, there ia always so much to do that none of us sit still for more an an hour. Most people think we are crazy though to be fair. :) The longest we sat still was when we met vivatosi for lunch at OKW on our last trip.

Again, I would recommed Disney apartment but ask for a ground floor so that if your son is bouncing around, cannot be heard by people downstairs, there is lots of space, shuttles and the boats to hand to get around on and the 1 beds have a double and single sleeper in the lounge so your children can sleep sepererately.
  • hi guys well ive totally changed my mind on our planned trip we are hoping to go in june 2012 :o we were planning on staying on i-drive
as this is what we did in 2005 but this time we are taking our little girls who will be ages 3 and 4 we have been talking and have decided to miss out universal and ioa and just do disney sea world
and bush gardens :D anyway we are hoping to book a villa, which area would be best for this and i was hoping to book one with theme bedrooms although we only need a small one as there will only be 4 of us, would love some help with this :o
