Thanks that's an interesting point. She's only 2 and enjoys a dip in the pool. One other reason would be the fact we are spending week 2 by the beach further south so will have plenty water then
I'll see what DH thinks......
There are some lovely areas in the water parks for little ones - they can sit on rings and go down (very very) shallow slides etc. Really lovely! This is at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach0 -
Hi KarenG,
Thanks for getting back to me.
We are adults, in the age ranges of 20-22. And we will be staying at the International Drive and I believe it will be the EconoLodge Inn & Suites.
What would the budget be per person on that basis?
Thanks you once again
Possibly slightly more then (and I'm not including alcohol in that). Those that are old enough to drink legally must carry ID, as they will not be served. They are very strict on this.0 -
Hi my Daughter and her boyfriend are going to Florida 5th April, first time together (aged 18 and 19 ) her first time, hes been when younger. They are staying at Champions World on Highway 192. It has free shuttle to parks, they have bought their tickets. Can anyone advise the cheapest way to get from airport to the hotel? Also with being in parks all day any moneysaving tips for food and drink? thanks0

A shuttle from the airport is going to be cheapest. I never use them myself but you could try Googling "Mears" who are the main operator, I think.
If Champions World is the old Howard Johnson on West 192 (which I think it is), they are going to be heavily reliant on the hotel shuttles which may drop off and collect at inconvenient times! They should look into the local public transport in case that gives them a better option.
It's not the best location without a car to be honest, but there are a few restaurants within walking distance. They would have been far better on International Drive.
To save money, they should try and get to a supermarket for drinks and snacks which they can take into the parks with them. There is a Publix near their hotel which I think could be within walking distance, but it's a long time since I stayed there, and we were always in a car so I wouldn't like to be sure of that. Try Google Earth - if I'm right the Publix is on the opposite side of the road before you get to Champions World, heading west on the 192.0 -
Thanks for that Karen, will look at Mears. They have a fridge in room so can store drinks etc and take a few bits to the park with them.0

Hi All
Was looking to pick some brains on here on my holiday for next year.
2 ad 2 children (5 & 2) going to Orlando next March (out of school holidays).
My plan was to fly Virgin as I have 50,000 virgin airmiles, using them to either buy the tickets or get the upgrades.
Hire a car through a website and then book a villa on owners-direct.co.uk or similar and finally book my tickets through one of the firms mentioned on here to get us into the Disney parks and Universal parks.
My ball park figures are thus:
Flight Tickets £2000
Villa £1000
Car hire £300
Tickets £1000
So I reckon I'm looking at approx £4k - £4.5k.
How does this sound, I'm happy to take on ideas, suggestions or constructive criticisms
Thanks in advance

It's really handy to have a fridge
If I remember correctly, there was a restaurant at the hotel, a chinese super buffet next door and a McDonalds next door to that (but US next doors could be a ten minute walk LOL).
Tell them to buy loads of water in the supermarket - in the parks its $3 a bottle but you can usually buy 24 bottles for $5 in the supermarkets!0 -

To get the flights, you need to become a Virgin Atlantic website stalker, as they go really quickly. With 50k miles you won't have enough to fly "free" for all of you, but you have loads for a miles plus money fare each.
Alternatively you could use your miles to upgrade your seats from economy to Premium Economy. To do this though you have to buy a more expensive Economy ticket, and I've never been able to get the numbers to work for me. I'm not great at knowing the best way to use miles so feel free to ignore this
Budget looks realistic but do-able to me. Your 2 year old will not have to pay to get into parks (in case you didn't already know!).0 -

Hi again everyone, after an amazing holiday in Orlando last year I am planning a family trip again next year for my big birthday (40)
I have seen the villa I want to book and will be using car on the drive.
Just need to sort out flights, we will be going on 19th July 2012 so when can I expect the flights to be available to buy? Both my previous trips I have booked with a travel agent (Thomas Cook never again) and also have used a flight broker but cant remember who it wasBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0
